OMJ, do the new versions have HTC Messaging enabled or disabled? Thanks again!!

HTC Messaging is enabled....I only removed it for that special version...it has gotten much better

I did not see your 3 saved files for your ROMS

not sure why they dont show up automatically, but when you hit load rom, press O for omj, and you will see all 3.

The SD card doesnt let me either. Just goes checking then back to the tricolor screen.

Thanks

You can try downloading my kitchen.....I removed all the TouchPro stuff, but you can copy from calkulins kitchen into mine & cook.

Thanks OMJ for the kitchen and new Roms. I built a custom rom with your kitchen setup using sys 23088. Everything is working fine except for SMS. It's pretty much the same issue as before using the HTC Messaging Client where the sent text just saves to outbox. I don't remember it being publicly discussed what was done to get SMS working with the messaging client. Hopefully it's something as simple as a regedit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I havent seen this issue

Im downloading the kitchen now. Hopefully I can get things to work. only major thing imma do is take off htc messaging because right now arcsoft is the only thing that lets you configure mms for metroPCS and Cricket.

Yea I figured it was some weird issue. I'll try rebuilding and reflashing the rom I made. I was able to recieve SMS and also MMS through Arcsoft. I was even able to send an MMS through Arcsoft, but text messaging was a no go using the Messaging Client. I'm guessing other than all of the packages that were marked required, none of the optional ones are needed to get it functional.

Actually last night I cooked one up as well and texting is not working, also, can't get windows live to setup for the life of me. Tried, turning off HTC Sense, tried using titanium, tried reinstalling windows live cab, restarting but nothing works. Oh well, love the kitchen and will play around some more to see if there is something I did wrong. will probably just use the template you provided and cook one up. Will report back. thanks again OMJ!

I'm having trouble with the kitchen. Seems to execute properly, but I don't find the .nbh file in the Release_Diamond folder. The RUU installer pops up and and wants me to flash directly to the phone. Is there something else I have to do to create the nbh after hitting the "CREATE ROM" button? Please help. This is really frustrating.

Thanks for the confirmation. I flashed OMJ's 23504 Rom and texting is working fine. I've been comparing the sys' with the ones I added just to make sure it's not anything on my end.

Reporting back. text messaging does work after rebuilding using your template!! thanks OMJ. Last night I built but realized that there was a selection for a 6.1 fix that was cooked in so to a 21870 rom so that was probably it. Also did not cook in MMS last time so that might have been it. In any event, it works. will try windows live again.

Well thats good to know. Curiously are you using one the sys's OMJ already has in the kitchen? Also I tried building without the 6.1 fix as well and still no go. Are you using Generic as your carrier or did you pick a specific carrier. I chose Sprint and that may be where my issue is.

Hi Cordy,

OMJ posted that you should select Diamond then load on the left hand side, then type "o" and his roms will come up. then it will load all of his selections. I did leave it generic as that was his selection. Also, I just noticed that his selections didn't have .Netcf selected so you should probably select this as well or you will get .net errors.

Ok Thanks I did that for the Rom I built a few moments ago. Oddly enough when I selected it NetCF was already loaded for me. Also chose Generic this time around. I prefer Sprint just so I don't have to update my prl manually. Also I noticed OMJ Misc wasn't selected however that contains fixes such as the removal of the start menu shortcuts as well as fixing the messaging clients left softkey to back. I'd assume there would be no harm in enabling that.

I was just about to cook one and had selected Sprint, I wonder if that is a bad idea? Also do you know where it saves the nbh file in case I don't want to flash at that time?

it saves it in the Release Diamond folder. I don't think selecting Sprint would break anything but could be wrong. OMJ tweaks was selected for me when I cooked if that helps.

Well I want to confirm selecting Sprint is not the way to go. After selecting Generic my text messaging is now working. Also yes you should enable the OMJ Misc if you are using the HTC Messaging client as well as you don't like all those shortcuts for the HTC Apps in the start menu. It also turns off Manila 2.5's vibration function but that can be turned back on through Manila Settings. And the nbh is in the Release Diamond folder.

I'm on Sprint also and I'm about to attempt to cook a rom. If I select "Generic" is there anything else that I need to do once it's loaded so that all the features work (i.e. Phone, Data, Location), or will they just work?

They will just work. There is no drawback to using generic it just takes away some features from the settings. There is no PRL update or Profile update in Settings. But if you already have the latest PRL then that really doesn't matter and you can always update manually.

What's the word on MMS? is it working using the HTC messaging or do we still have to go through Arcsoft? In either case, is it functioning properly? this is the only thing holding me back.

Also, It'd be awesome if those of you who have flashed it already can provide some insight as to how the 6.5.1 ROM runs (battery life, stability, speed, etc...). OMJ's done a SOLID job with these ROMs so I'd expect all those to be good but its still good to get an idea from those who have already used it for a while.

If most of the major issues or ironed out (looks that way) I'm flashing this baby as soon as I'm done with exams....

Finally, a big thanks to OMJ. I don't think I've seen a chef ask for desired changes, implement them into a ROM and put it out as fast as you've done in the past week. You've been putting some serious work into this and we all appreciate the amazing work!! Keep it up! =D>

This ROM is fantastic and shows a lot of promise!
Has anyone else tried the new beta of opera mobile 10? It is a huge improvement: http://www.opera.com/mobile/
I installed the cab on my phone and in created some issues with the "internet" tab; is there an easy fix for this? Thanks
PS the error message is roughly "the file cannot be opened...either it is not signed or one of its components cannot be found..."
I can open it from the start menu, however.

Just d/l'ed it :) ... looks just like mini 5 but for WinMo rather than Java. May not even need to install Java anymore :)

This and some beta testing I'm doing for a developer of a Texas Holdem Poker timer app are the only things that have prevented me from building a new rom with OMJ's kitchen yet this morning :(

If you have the kitchen, just add it. It's very simple to make an EXT from a cab. I have attached kitchen converter. Unzip it, drag cab on top of Cab2OEM.exe, drag folder that is created on top of EXT_Packages_rebuilder.exe, and put in EXT folder. I made you a myphone EXT package which should work or you can get the version in other kitchens (ie calkulins).

Thanks mwalt,

This was my next homework assignment :) ... Know how to convert cab to oem with evirus packages converter for ppck, but still in a transition learning process with this VK. Saved me some time trying to find this!

While i'm at it I'll ask here (untill OMJ starts a new thread for his kitchen hopefully :) ), I have imported some ext packages from Calk's v4.2 to 4.1 by just right clicking in the kitchen and going and grabbing one off my desktop. My questions are...

1. Can i just copy paste them inside the kitchen ext folders and will the kitchen automatically recognize them next time i restart the kitchen?

2. If I do the right click import option, does it automatically put them in the proper ext folder? ie. diamond, or shared, or commom, etc... and lastly (for now hehe)

3. If I can manually copy/paste them, how do i know which folder to put them in, ie... diamond, shared, common, etc.. or does it even matter? I did notice that all OMJ's 2.5 packages 10-21 where in the main "shared" folder so I'm guessing it may not matter where they are so long as they are somewhere in the main ext folder?

Thanks

Well, Ken ... you knocked it out of the park last night. Thank you so much for putting in the effort, and for your continued help and guidance. Been playing around in the kitchen this morning, and especially appreciate you including a 6.1 build. Very nice work!
