When creating a new message, if you just type the name without selecting anything and then just tap the box where you type the message, it will add the contact for you and it should pick their mobile number. After it adds them, you can tap their name and press edit, and it will show you which number it will send it to. Sorry if that doesn't make sense...

As for the keyboard lag, try disabling the visual feedback. There's a reg edit I posted for it a while back but I don't know it off the top of my head, and I can't search for it because I'm on my phone. Im not sure if it will work, as I haven't tried it.

the problem with that for sms is if your contact does not have an email address they will not show as an available person in the autofill.

You don't need to select anyone. In the "To:" field of a new message, try typing in the first name of a contact who doesn't have the same first name as any of your other contacts. After you type in their first name, tap the message box to begin your message. When you do, it should fill in the last name of your contact. There shouldn't be a need to pick a name for autofill.

i know what you mean, however it only works for contacts that have an email address..

Weird. It works for me.

EDIT: I just tried it with more of my contacts. It works for some, but not others. It works for some that don't have email addresses, and it doesn't work for some that do. I'm confused...
