Actually, tethering doesn't appear to work. But, who needs it any more....
The wifiRouter app is way better and easier. Phone becomes a router to the PC, with a built-in radio data connection. Very cool!!!

Does sprint detect you are "tethering?" Will I have to pay the tethering fee with this?

I thought it didn't work because I didn't see the old "Sprint" option.

Now, there is only "DATA", and "Phone as Modem" options. If I choose DATA, tethering seems to work fine.

I assume there is no additional charge for this beyond the usual data charge on my unlimited plan; same as before when the "Sprint" option was chosen in the drop down.

In any event, HTC Wifi Router method seems to be a much more convenient option for a laptop connected to the internet via the phone.

Change the name of the connection from DATA to SPRINT and you should be golden.
