I know, my concern is if you look at the dialer, some of the buttons are different. No end key on the main dialer page. Also, there is a speed dial on it but not on the one in Groove's rom. that's why I hesitate..

I looked at the files in the cab, and it will work just fine. It may rearrange the buttons slightly from the screenshots to be arranged as the typically are. The buttons themselves have no words, it's the engine that puts them on the buttons, and arranges the buttons accordingly. Should work fine.

But do you really think it looks that much better than this?:

i'm simply not a huge fan of the 'glossy' look, which is why i prefer the more matte look of the other dialer.

What should I be backing up from internal storage? Looks like I wiped out my text messages from today, so obviously you don't put those on internal storage, I'm actually a little surprised by that with how well you manage memory. What stuff that usually sits on the device do you move to internal storage? What do you use for backup and how do you keep your stuff in sync when you're always burning new roms? Do you actually redo your own live phone constantly? Doesn't it drive you crazy?
Inda,

I'd still like to know how you backup your data. Do programs that are installed in internal storage default to having their data in internal storage too? When you personally upgrade your phone, what do you use to migrate your personal settings and data? Do you have a program that you run after flashing that personalizes from previous settings or is it a restore or what? I can't afford to lose program data and rebuild email account settings and such when things break, activesync does a good job on contacts and calendar, but I think there's a lot more that needs a better backup mechanism.

As a status update on my running BigHTCHOME, something seems to break the lnk/shortcut to rotate screen, I'm not sure what. The way I was reproducably freezing my diamond was trying to use the rotate screen and then trying to rotate back, the rotation back would always lock the diamond and require battery removal. This was fixed by deleting the icon shortcut on my HTCHOME to rotate screen and then just rebuilding it? Is there anything new in 6.5 that could cause this? Could this be related to using ReStart, does that reorder the directory? Or any of the other tools incompatible for that matter? Should programs in general be upward compatible for 6.5? For example, Is there any reason SPB mobile shell wouldn't work on this rom? Since I like the fixed format of BigHTCHOME do many think SPB mobile is just a worthwhile upgrade and I should just pay for it?

Well, first off, I pretty much build the rom to suit my needs, so there's not a lot of data/setting restore that I need to do, but there are a couple of things.

1. I have a few program cabs that Sashimi installs for me.
2. I have a cab for my email settings/accounts (see this thread)
3. I have a cab for my Opera passwords/cookies
4. I have a cab that installs the shortcuts for programs that I have installed to internal, into the start menu.
5. Activesync

That's pretty much it.

All my cabs that worked on 6.1 work on 6.5 too.
