is it bad...?

Is it bad to flash roms so many times? trying a rom and flashing it to another and another and so on. Will it damage the phone?

Re: is it bad...?

No, at least not from process itself. Of course, it's always possible for some strange, anomalous event to happen during any particular flash, and the results can be wildly unpredictable.

99% of the time, you'll probably be fine, but remember, the more times you flash, the more times you expose yourself to the risk of something going wrong.

That's why all the chefs have a disclaimer in their ROM threads.

Re: is it bad...?

If it helps, for a little peace of mind, what i do before each custom rom flash is go back to stock rom for my carrier first, or at the very least do a 'clear storage' first.

I don't think it does any damage, I have flashed my Diamond atleast 40 times now. Going from custom to stock, and I have not encountered any issues.

Re: is it bad...?

I've probably flashed mine over 500 times and had maybe two errors that weren't my fault, that were fixed by simply flashing again.

Re: is it bad...?

Flash memory has an expected 10,000 cycles. It would take a lot of flashing to exceed that. Other than something going wrong in the flash, there is little chance of damaging anything by flashing too much.

Re: is it bad...?

Yeah, what guitardoc said... While flashing a rom there is a little chance, and if something does go wrong, just reflash. First one to 10,000 wins $50 geek-bucks!
