fROM Juicy to Mighty: A quick guide to make the transition easier
So, if you were a loyal Juicy user like myself, you were probably a little disappointed when juicy had to remove all his roms. So, I found myself looking for a new home. I had installed mighty rom in the past, but quickly switched back to juicy because I didn’t like some of the default settings mighty had. I have now installed mighty 4.1, and I would like to say it is a great rom that is very fast and stable. It has some extra things that juicy didn’t have that I do like. I’ve also noticed that mighty seems to use less memory. However, there a lot of default settings/preferences that I didn’t like. So, I did a lot of searching and eventually got most if not all the things back to the way I like them. I am not trying to say one way is better than the other, and I’m not trying to tell mighty how to cook his rom. It’s all personal preferences. So, I hope there are a lot of other Juicy users that will find this guide helpful to make the transition easier. Please feel free to request other things and post how to do things that I missed. I will be happy to update. I was on Juicy 3.9, so maybe some of these don’t make sense to those using Juicy 4.x
Change text message length from 140 to 160 In Start>Programs open PHM Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>SMS>TextShare d edit the value from 140 to 160 Change Start Menu to large Start>Settings>System(tab)>TouchFlo check the enable large start menu Change the Task Manager to large Start>Settings>System(tab)>Task Manager go to the others tab and select Large Size below the Program icon size in Quick Menu setting Change the Date format from d/m/y to m/d/y Start>Settings>System(tab)>Regional Settings the default here is English(Canada) for mighty rom. If you change to English(United States), it will change the date format to m/d/y. If you want to leave it on Canada, then just go to the Date tab and set the format you want there. Change the Right Soft Key on the home screen back to programs Download diamond tweak from here: http://montecristoff.webs.com/ Install and run. Under 14. TouchFLO 3D change 14.5 Right Soft Key to something else besides “Programs(Default)” I chose calendar. Hit OK and exiting the program. Now the home screen should have calendar as the right soft key. You may have to slide off of home and go back for it to take affect. Then go back to Diamond Tweak and change the setting back to Programs(Default) and repeat. It should now have Programs as the right soft key, and it will open the Programs tab in TF3D. You can uninstall Diamond Tweak after this if you don’t want it anymore. It's not required to keep it installed for it to save the setting.(thanks tprime76) Change the vertical scroll bar width and button height I used Advanced configuration 3.3 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070 But I’m sure there is a way to edit it in the registry manually. If someone wants to post that method, I will add it. Install Advanced Configuration 3.3 under user interface change the vertical scrollbar width to 13 (default) and the vertical scroll arrow height to 20 (default). Uninstall if you don't want advanced config. It's not required to keep it installed for it to save the setting. Change the Black Flip Clock back to white Go here and download the Sprint2FlipClock.cab http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ite+flip+clock Make sure you stop TF3D first ( start/settings/today/items/uncheck touchFLO 3D) Soft reset and turn TF3D back on **This will disable the ability to slide with your finger and see additional notifications for upcoming appointments on the home screen. To fix this, go here and install the cab for background for all pages in the first post, and then you will need to use the background image in the second post to restore the original background image. Set the background by navigating to the settings tab on TF3D, and click wallpaper. Set Rotate Screen back to long press send key Go to Start>Settings>Buttons> highlight the Send Key(hold), and then select <Rotate Screen> from the drop down. Set screen lock back to long press end key Start>Settings>System(tab)>Long Press End Key choose “lock device” Stop the clicking sounds in the menus Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications. Uncheck sounds for "Events (warnings, system events)" (thanks effudee) Change the small icons (4 across) in the programs / settings menus back to large (3 across) Open PHM Registry editor. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Shell/IconConfig HorizontalIconSpacing from 105 to 140 IconTitleFontSize from 6 to 8 VericalIconSpacing from 115 to 140 These probably aren’t the exact Juicy registry settings, but pretty close. If someone wants to post the exact settings, I will change them. Also, if you like the small icons, and you change the vertical scrollbars back to the default size, I would suggest setting the horizontal spacing to 110. (Thanks nitefall) Make Opera Mobile the default browser (thanks reef48 ) Use PHM registry editor HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER "0"=Opera Browser "1"=\Windows\OperaL.exe Last edited by timtlm; 02-02-2009 at 06:18 PM. |

Re: fROM Juicy to Mighty: A quick guide to make the transition easier
Yes, this is what I was talking about. In Mighty's ROM, when you click start, and other menu items including programs, it makes a clicking noise. Also, you get an alert sound for warnings like when you delete a file. This is the setting that will change it. I tested it, and my phone still rings, and my alarms still sound. Thanks effudee.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse. It's just a play on words, per say. It's the word "from", but with the rom capitalized because we are talking about ROMs here.
