YOU MUST BE UNLOCKED TO USE THIS ROM!! If you're not sure what this means, you have no business flashing your phone! I am not responsible for any damage that you do to your phone. Please understand that, even if you follow all the directions, it is still possible to turn your phone into a very expensive paper weight! Be careful and beware! For more information, please read this:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062

Glossman v1.1

IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST let the carrier customizations run after flash/hard reset. These customizations may take several (up to 10) minutes, and even appear to hang, but DO NOT soft reset during these customizations, as you could have hanging issues later. If you allow them to complete, the phone will start normally, and you'll have no problems.

This ROM was built using Calkulin's 3.6 Kitchen (CE OS 5.2.20940/20931) and was designed for all Sprint Diamonds. This has only been tested on a Sprint Diamond, so I cannot comment on how/if it will run on any other Diamond. Again, you flash at your own risk.

This ROM features many of the items a user would need for max connectivity and speed. It's stripped of all games, and other apps that I felt would not benefir the power user. it does include a pair of media players, since WMP basically sucks.

I have created an integrated BLUE theme that is useful and (in my opinion), easy to view.

Special thanks goes out to Calcu, Conflipper, Colonel, luv2chill, Old_Man_Jenkins, ImCoKeMaN, 6700Yuma, DarkLord69, *and Cmonex, no2chem, Tobeychris, Ghettofreeryder, Juicy47, and Jugallo_X. Without whom, the kitchens wouldn't be what they are today, and you'd still have a locked phone.

If you want all the visual tweaks, you must allow the carrier customizations to run, otherwise, you'll just get a reasonably fast Sprint UI that's pretty boring to look at!

Re: [12/23/3008] Glossman Pro v1.0 with Custom Blue UI[Sys OS 20940/20931]

After further testing, I have determined that the hang and boot issues described in this thread are due to the interruption of the carrier customizations after a flash or hard reset. Please be patient and allow the customization process to complete. It may take up to 10 minutes and even appear to hang a few times, but it is still installing updates that SHOULD NOT be interrupted.

I can't say it enough: PLEASE DO NOT SOFT RESET WHILE THE CUSTOMIZATIONS ARE INSTALLING. BE PATIENT!

Only if you are spelling it with an "a" followed by ssed. If you spell it with a spell checker, you'll use "past" and you'll be fine.

I see this ROM uses Cyberon VC. Does that mean that MS VoiceCommand isn't in there?

It will most likely be sometime later today. I've been at this for several hours now, and I think I'm making fatigue-induced errors. I think I need some rest. I do promise it will be worth it once I get it back up!

Good words, and all very true. Thankfully, there was no harm done. In my defense, when developing a ROM, you go through several builds before you get to one that has the behavior and performance charactaristics that you want, so you wind up with a lot of RUU_Signed.nbh files. In my fatigue, I mislabelled the one I ultimately uploaded and deleted the one I wanted to use. In any event, I decided to call it a night, as it was pushing 1 AM.

Just thought you might want the skinny.

Anyway, I'll recook, test it, and get it up today.

AMEN!

I hope the folks over at the kitchen factory make this phone supported like they did with the 6800 and the touch to allow cricket as the provider. I have a really nice cricket rom for the touch that was based off a chem kitchen. If I had the time to figure out how to extract the current rom with setup off the diamond im using now the cricket users would love it.

Very nice looking interface, but very buggy. I gave it up after 3 hard resets. Rom loaded initially, but hung twice after selecting settings and then programs tab. Then would not complete hard reset..got stuck in preparing phone for first use screen. Fortunately, I had caulkins 3.5 in memory and was able to boot from that. It is a promising rom, and after some bugs are worked out, I might try it again. Thank you for your effort, and good luck in the future.

The carrier customizations do take several minutes to run. The first time I booted that ROM, I thought it hung, too. It's important to give it the time to load everything after a flash and hard reset.

I'm running that ROM now, and have not had any hangs. How long are you giving it?

Oye...

Follow this procedure, and have a known good ROM available to flash:

Pop the back cover off the phone. Hold the phone over your stomach (no joke!) using your body to press the stylus in the reset hole...While you're doing this, use your left hand to press the Volume down and power buttons at the same time WHILE using your right hand to push the left arrow button (the one above the hang-up key). Do all three of these things simulataneously, and you'll be in bootloader mode. Then, go ahead and flash from your PC as you normally would.

I'll pull the ROM and do more testing.

I have tried this method a few times now...problem is my computer no longer sees device when connected via usb. I was planning to do this, reformat internal memory and start from scratch. As I said, I do have caulkins 3.5 in my internal memory. After going into bootloader mode, rom will update to 100% and proceed to black touch diamond screen where it seems to like there as it will now go any further. "Bricked" may not be correct term, but definitely f'd. I have flashed 10+roms with no issues until now.

Are you running Vista?

Also, I was able to get my phone to hang. I did a hard reset, then a soft reset during the carrier customizations. Once it rebooted, I had trouble with intermiitent hangs too.

The odd thing about this is, it's a Caulkins 3.6 kitchen ROM, and I've made no alterations to any of the system or OS files. These are superficial interface changes using OEMs and cabs. I'll follow up with Calcu to see if he's aware of any of these problems.

I am sorry for the hassle on this.

I don't doubt you're having issues, however, I noticed that, as of 9:11 PM, PST tonight, no one has downloaded my ROM, according to my Megaupload account. You may want to double check the .rar file you downloaded, just to be sure.

See my screencap of my Megaupload account below.
