Re: [DEC 5th New Telus Radio V1.04.05V] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Let me chime in on the new Telus Radio Rom.
(I am a telus user in T.)
What is an improvement for me:
- Battery does not heat up as much ( travelling in the subway to and from work would cause the radio to search like crazy, so much so the battery would go down 25% in a 20 trip underground and the phone would be incredibly hot... this radio has fixed this issue)
- When sending an email via ActiveSync (with an exchange server) My messages go out quickly ( previously the messages would sit in my outbox and send several times usually I had to delete it manually... this issue is fixed)
-GPS seems accurate and timely. ( previously so much lag that you might get an instruction to turn after you have already p***** a the street... fixed)

here is an issue I have found with this radio... so far only one.
-ActiveSync loses it, it does not keep a constant sync like it did previously, sometimes it requires me to hit sync manually and it will hold on to it for a while then lose it again. (tried using a couple of different ROMS however all have an issue with this radio version and activesync keeping in sync.)

*edit apparently p a ss ed is a bad word... LOL*

I have to say I'm incredibly impressed with this, as others.
PocketSpeedTest shows a steady avg of 720kbit/s with peaks up too 1120kbit/s, my bars aren't much higher BUT..
I made it through the whole day and still have 55% battery left.
I've been using it sparsely for internet, music and text but have received a ton of push email today.

Let me update as ive used this now for 4 days.

Everything is still great with the heat issues gone and better signal and evdo but....

The battery life for me is worse then the vzw radio but still better then the factory radio. I own an isp so im on the phone all the time so batt life is important to me. After spending an hour on the phone trying to get dell to cross ship a blade for one of our blade servers the batt was almose dead and when I started talking to them I just pulled it from the cradle. On the vzw radio I could get 3 hours of talk time and some exchange syncs and still be at just under a half.

I am going back to the vzw radio.

Does the Telus radio work with Spring? When I tried to flash, it told me that the radio is compatible with my phone.

Here's my experience so far - it is much better than 1.00.00F battery-wise. I took the phone off the charger yesterday morning and just (as in 15 minutes ago) put it back on the charger because it was down to about 20% (so thats approx 25 hrs without charging - I could've waited to see how much longer I could go I guess). This is with normal usage (not too much internet, not too much mp3 listening, not too much gps, and not too much talking - but taken together normally required me to charge it within 12-15 hours of a full charge).

As for reception - it too is much much better for me than stock. At home I have no problem normally and that persisted. But at work, I get 1 or 2 bars at most with 1.00.00F. Since i flashed to 1.04.05V, I have been getting at least 3 bars consistently - even in rooms with no windows! Speed generally was the same as stock as well.

I haven't experienced any vibrating issues or data connectivity issues. GPS appears to work as it should. Hope this helps convince you sprint users out there to try it out! It is well worth it!

Can you confirm this like that last radio, doesnt require a hard reset?

Agree, just downloaded and flashed from sprint stock to the Telus 1.04.05V. No hard reset performed. My Juicy 4.0 remained the same with no loss of data. It appears I have increased reception by 20% in my house! I'll report further improvements as I move about.
