Re: [UPDATED Bench Marked Results post 75 ] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Rom Thread

ok, so i'm on the verge of updating to the verizon radio, i just wanted to know what precautions i should take. i just unlocked the phone, got the msl, wrote down the mip profile information, and right now sprite is backing up my data. by the way, in sprite's restore options, there's different options for restore, with "device upgrade" being the default, instead of safe upgrade and rom upgrade. do these matter when i restore?

basically, i just run the utility in the radio rom download, and then when it hard resets, restore it from the backup that i'm performing now, and basically it should be like it never happened, except with the verizon radio?

i'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but i've never owned a smartphone before. i've had pda's in the past, and i'm not completely clueless, but i just want to make sure i understand everything correctly so nothing goes wrong.

Thanks, I know it's not always all that accurate but using the built in power tab in settings also showed the bar to be approx 90%. I don't use the 1% alone to go by. I do verify through power tab as well for an approx. I was just using the 1% numbers for a more solid number to identify with.

I have accepted the battery drain for the most part. So far, nothing has been near as bad as my Razer was. That said, one thing this phone has shared with teh Razer , for me at least, is how inconsistently the battery will drain. One day it seems I can go forever and then the next it's lost so much battery in a short time I begin to wonder if something is really wrong.

I am pretty sure though after a couple days worth of testing that the VZW radio has helped especially in standby.

This radio update is awesome for battery life, but my phone still gets toasty warm while on calls... I use a bluetooth headset, and was curious if that is the source of drain. Anyone else notice bluetooth sucking battery life? anyone have a good solution?

Not using BT and still get heavy drain out of nowhere.

Those are the steps that I did, and everything worked fine. BTW, since the device ROM didn't change, Sprite didn't ask about merging, so I assume it did a replace...

for those flashing the vzw radio...make sure you go in and apply all battery reg fixes and check the beam to make sure its off...this radio rom helps but it helps more in combination with the fixes...my rom includes all battery fixes except for beam off i will build my next one with that off by default and then share it all with you

Well..

After 24 hours plus, I cannot see the night and day difference between the stock Sprint radio and Verizon version most people are seeing. I will continue to keep an eye on it. I have installed all the other battery tweaks.

After 12 hours of email on push, about an hours worth of voice, 30-40 texts, battery was still at 30%.

you aren't alone. Keeping in my normal phone use routine from pre-switch, I don't recognize a change for the better.

I applied the VZN radio this morning on my sprint diamond.. not sure what you mean by "apply all battery reg fixes".... what are those? Could you please clarify (if possible with the cab files that fix what you mention).

Thanks!!
