ROM and Radio ROM are two separate entities. The ROM holds the OS and all the base apps. The Radio ROM holds the information for the phone to get radio signals from the towers. It's obviously much more complicated than that, but that's the basis behind the two. When making a ROM, you CAN "Cook" in the Radio, but most do not do this as it gives the user the control on that.

MOST if not all of these radios flash without messing with the data on the phone. Regular ROM's (Mighty, Groove, etc) do a reset on the device when flashed, clearing all ROM information and replacing it with the new one.

It's always good practice to backup with either PIM or SPB or Sashimi or something before flashing ANYTHING, in case of power failure, battery failure, phone lockup, chuck norris roundhouse kick to the face resulting in a disconnected USB while flashing... You know... just normal stuff that can happen to anyone.

probably not. delays in text messages usually have something to do with the carrier and their network. however, it is worth it for many other reasons.

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Quick question, I know when I flashed the Verizon road last year, it hard reset the phone. I know the newer Sprint and Telus Radio installs don't hard reset the phone. Has the Verizon radio install been changed so it doesn't require a hard reset?

Have tried the new Sprint and Telus Radio. May be going back to the Verizon one if I don't stick with Telus, but want to know upfront if I should be planning for a hard reset. Thanks.

Just incase some of the newer people were wondering, apparently you can't just grab a radio from a phone, they grab it from the shipped version of the Rom. So if you're looking for carrier specific then unless its here or you have a shipped rom then ur screwed

No, the radio flash does not hard reset your phone. enjoy your new radio!

I know this is true for the new Sprint and Telus Radio.

Is that also true for the other older ones? At one time it did hard reset the phone. I wasn't sure if those had been corrected so it didn't require a hard reset.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "older ones." If your Diamond is unlocked and ready for rom flashing, there shouldn't be any reason for a hard reset with a radio flash form this thread. As always, I would still back up your data prior to any rom or radio flash...just in case! lol.
