Re: [ROM] [MAY.04.09] MightyROM 4/R3BORN

I also agree with some that while the new ROM work is probably cool and much appreciated (as is the old ROM work!); however, I've have put a LOT of time and effort into setting my phone up the way I like it and if this ringer problem would get resolved, I'd be pretty frak'n happy (for now:)).

Ok, I'm going to attempt to sum up the ringer issue. Please make corrections/comments!

Possible causes:
  1. BT related: Negatory -- several have stated they don't use BT at all.
  2. TouchLockPro: No -- same reason.
  3. ROM: Yes -- Doesn't ever happen with stock ROM (unless a custom ROM wasn't properly "purged"), only modified ROMs
  4. wma: Yes -- only happens with wma files?. .wav's never cause a problem. When the problem ocurrs, the Sound app defaults back to sound #1 which is .wav. The 1st 8 default files are .wav
  5. TF3D or WM Dialer: Unknown, but using WM Dialer seems to get rid of a 3 sec ring delay, which is kind of a ringer related bug. I'm using TF3D Dialer.
  6. ActiveSync: Possibly -- I seem to have the problem shortly after disconnecting from AS. Not sure if it's when I unplug, or if I get a call (or sms) while it's updating or what. Still trying to make it happen intentionally.
Fixes:
  1. Soft reset fixes it every time. No other fix has been observed when trying to use default sounds in default location: .wma's in \Windows\Rings
  2. Convert active .wma's to .wav's. Recomnended to leave them in \Windows\Rings for proper function while connected to ActiveSync.
Other:
  1. I've read of possible conflict playing Sounds because of a file association issue with a media player. That is, the player is associated (or not associated, not sure which way causes an issue) with .wma's and somehow screws up the notifcation app or something.

Re: [ROM] [MAY.04.09] MightyROM 4/R3BORN

When somebody has the ringtone problem and it defaults to Alarm-Beeps can you change it to any of the other Alarm-??? sounds without error? If so can you then change it to Alert-Crystal and then get the error? It would seem as though any wav file should be able to be used and any wma or mp3 should give the error.

After thinking about this it would seem the ringer app, for some reason, is expecting a WAV and when it encounters the MP3/WMA file it doesn't ring and then defaults to the first wav it can find for the ringer. If you leave it as Alarm-Beeps does it ring the next time a call is received?

Since I have been using WAV files for ringers I haven't run into any problems. I have used every ROM and kitchen for 6.1 and 6.5, use bluetooth headset and custom taskbars that I have created as well as others from tsowen and gadgetfreak.

Hope this can help someone.

Yes, you can change it to any of the 1st 8 sounds: Alarm-??? because they're wav files, which don't seem to ever cause an error. If you go to the 9th file Alert-Atomosphere she pukes with "...corruption..." error.

Okay, so I flashed R3born...where are these "battery features" that are supposed to come with it? The Power Menu has all the same options as before.
