Such an act is called noobism.
I hope one of them doesn't go apesh*t on me.

sympatico requires the use of pophm servers (hotmail servers) with ssl enabled on both incoming and outgoing servers with the ports chaged as well.

Re: [09/20/08] Juicy ROM 2.0 [TELUS & SPRINT]

also the pop HM servers require a higher time out period. so i think your issue might be due to a time out corresponding to the data issues that 2.0 is experiencing.

Changing your mail settings
In the Incoming Mail (POP 3) field enter the following in lower case: pophm.sympatico.ca

In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) field enter: smtphm.sympatico.ca

In Account name, enter your e-mail address again.
In the password section, enter the password that Sympatico supplied for your e-mail. Note: This is not the same password as for connecting to Sympatico. You will find it in the letter sent by Sympatico that contains your subscriber codes. (You may have already personalized this password. If so, enter your current password.)
Click on Remember password to avoid having to type it in every time you want to send or receive e-mail.

Check My server requires authentication (See Image 4).

Configuring your ports
Click on the Advanced tab.
Check This server requires a secure connection (SSL) in both Incoming and Outgoing Mail.
The value for Outgoing Mail (SMTP) should be set to 25. If it is not, change it.
The value for Incoming Mail (POP) should be set to 995. If it is not, change it.

The value for Outgoing Mail (SMTP) should be set to 25. If it is not, change it.
The value for Incoming Mail (POP) should be set to 995. If it is not, change it.

I suggest you use smtp.telus.ca because I would be very surprised if Telus does not block port 25. If you use the telus smtp server you do not need to set for authentication for outgoing mail, only incoming.

you can use pophm or telus smtp servers. pophm is hotmail it doesnt care what ip/ISP your coming from.

but u can also use smtp.telus.net its easier because it dont require ssl
