Intro
In this first page you will find a short description of my ROM development philosophy, as well as O.a.T. ROM news and a list of the cooked in apps and a list of the cabs that I personally use. The subsequent 4 reserved pages will individually contain a brief introduction, screen shots, any special notes, and download links about the 4 major categories of ROMs I cook, namely a basic Sense 2.5.20XY ROM, a Titanium ROM, a MaxSense ROM, and a "Special" category ROM that for example will include things like transparency mods or Co0kie's Home Tab (CHT).

ROM Development Philosophy

First, in regards to SYS's, I follow the latest versions, but don't always cook these into my roms. I usually wait for days, if I cook at at all, to see if there is a real benefit in terms of functions or performance.

In regards to SENSE, my philosophy is very similar to the above. I follow the latest updates but don't always adopt them until I am convinced they offer something substantially better, are very robust themselves, and integrate well with Sense mods like CHT or MaxSense, for example.

In regards to "light", I cook very few apps into my ROMS for two simple reasons. It makes it easier to keep up with the latest versions of those apps without reflashing and more than likely they can be installed in internal memory thus freeing up device memory. The exception to this is major Sense mods, like transparency, since installing these via cab usually requires overlaying them on top of existing files, reducing overall device memory. The other exception is MaxSense, developed by Maxycy, as he does not allow the posting of cabs.

Finally, I do no "artistic mods", like skinning, etc., because I have no artistic capability and enough others do and post that I can generally find something if I look. In addition, these mods are very individualistic in nature meaning "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Basic Sense 2.5.20XY ROMs

This is the page for basic Sense 2.5.20XY ROMs. These will serve those well who don't want or need a more configurable UI via CHT or MaxSense. If you are not sure about CHT, this may still be the ROM to try with Co0kie cabbed in. And if you decide you don't like or need that capability, it should be easily uninstallable, getting you back to the basic ROM, without the need to reflash. There are many variations in this ROM set including different versions of Sense & WinMo. In terms of the latter, ROMs supporting both WinMo 6.5 and 6.5.x are available. Finally, this set of ROMs are the heart of the MaxSense and the "Special" ROMs.

Special Notes
There is an issue with messaging in the 2018 builds as identified by WIN7463. I include his description and workaround here for completeness.

"I have tried all three versions of the 2018 rom and they all do the same thing. After a lot of trying different scenarios I have narrowed it down to a very specific cause of the problem. When a text comes in and I touch the text it responds as usual by shrinking and expanding but nothing pops up. Pressing it a second time brings up the htc contact program (not sure what it is really called) and it shows the message tab including any old text messages. Whenever this tab is selected it messes sense up including sitcky menus and pressing any text messages from now on brings nothing up no matter how many times it is pressed. Doing a soft reset brings everything back to normal. Any favorite contacts I have that are set up for messaging when I click on their pic also causes the sense problems even if there is no text messages from them on the phone. This even happens when clicking/pressing a text message recieved from someone not in my contacts because it brings up the htc contacts program with message tab. I can get around this by not clicking on text messages or the message tab in contacts. On the sense tab for messages if I use the all messages or menu buttons at the bottom of the screen there is no problem because this brings up the windows mobile message interface not the htc one. From these menus I can do everything I need so at least now I know how to avoid the problem. I just cannot click a text message to reply or click on a favourite contact to send a message on the contacts tab. It seems this message tab seems to mess up sense so it undo's the vga port and the menus do not display properly anymore."

"So to sum up ways to avoid the problem.

1) Do not click on a text message on the sense message tab to reply, use the menu button at the bottom.
2) When adding a favorite to the sense contacts tab do not use message as the default choice.
3) When viewing contacts with the sense interface do not click the message tab, all other tabs do not mess up sense menus.

and if it does mess up just soft reset."

Titanium ROMs

This page is for Titanium ROMs, i.e., ROMs that do not have the Sense UI cooked in. The only other difference in these ROMs is they do contain Microsoft's weather widget. These Titanium ROMs can also serve as a good basis for those using SPB's Mobile Shell, providing device memory usage similar to the basic Sense ROMs. Finally, depending on your preference for WinMo 6.5 or 6.5.x, several choices are available with different SYSs.

MaxSense ROMs

3 Attachment(s)
This is the page for MaxSense ROMs. It's been sometime since anyone has heard from Maxycy, either on his thread at XDA, via email, or as an update to MaxSense. So what we've got here is the latest.

Special Notes
You will need to install an "Action Screen". Click here for the one I use or you can search for others at XDA. You can configure MaxSense from scratch, or you can click here for the theme I used as a basis. Other VGA themes are also available in this thread. As usual, multiple versions of the ROM with different versions of WinMo are available for download.

A known issue for these ROMs is one cannot select bottom programs in the Program Selector for Quick Links. A workaround is as follows. You can create another link of the same program preceded with AAA so that it will appear at the top of the list and is thus selectable.

Also, another solution to the Program Selector problem comes from Sonic101Mk2. I quote.

"Hi O.A.T. For the problem with maxsense roms concerning not being able to select programs from the list at the bottom. you can slide down and see them if you hold your thumb, but if your phone has direction buttons like the diamond you can use them to select the program you want. it's messy but at leas you don't have to make new link and such."

Special ROMs

6 Attachment(s)
This is the page for so-called "Special" ROMs including large Sense mods like major transparency changes or Co0kie's Home Tab (CHT). As previously mentioned, the reason for including these here is to maximize available device memory since these mods usually involve overlaying (not replacing) many, and sometimes sizable, manila files. As usual, ROMs supporting different versions of WinMo (6.5 and 6.5.x) are/will be available.

Special Notes
To get the below transparent task and menu bars and the BG4All wallpaper, use the attached Voldeus cab. You'll need to install the cab and you'll also need to copy the shell32.exe and aygshell.dll found in the attached 21681.rar or 21684.zip to your "Internal Storage". (Note: These are only for 21681 & 21684. If you need these for other SYSs, LMK.) You'll also need to have 480X640 and 640x480 jpg's of the wallpaper you want to use. Then, first run the set opacity program in the Voldeus folder, choosing the shell32.exe and the aygshell.dll appropriately for the "Set taskbar opacity" and "Set menubar opacity" menu items. Then soft reset. Next run the set wallpaper program, picking your portrait and landscape jpg's appropriately. End with another soft reset. This will also change your start menu background.

Congratulation O.a.T. your ROM keep growing up!!! \\:D/
and with this new Thread is get mature age, LOL!!! Felicitaciones mi hermano, Nice TITLE bro!!!!

By the way, O.a.T I found a more clean solution for "Real Close programs" when press "X" instead of XTask&XHook.
It's call "MM Manager v.23.101010" (updated Oct 19, 2010).
The XDA developer is call "Maximus.Mobile", since I don't have permission to post the cab here
I will post the link for the developer webpage where there is a Free download link.
(See attached image)

TRY IT and let me hear what you think. For me it works really fine, the only luck is a better way to pop up it (I don't like to use "long press" to "Send Key" and it is hard to press the top taskbar without the stylus).
Anyway I put it at QuickLink. In Settings I'm using:
YES: Load on Boat
"120": seconds for "Load on boot delay"
YES: Enable task launch
YES: Close on X button
YES: Confirm on close all

When I tried using the Rom with RSS.. whenever my alarm goes off, it pretty much mutes my alarm. I turned off any feed I had and it started working again. Alarm doesn't repeat for me though, it just makes the sound once then stops and doesn't autosnooze or doesn't continue until I click dismiss.. i liked that feature more

Thanks though good rom for sure

I'd cook you up a rom, but my kitchen isn't set up for TP. I looked quickly here at PPCGeeks for a TP kitchen that I could grab the files from, but couldn't find one. In regards to my EXT, my kitchen is really a mess supporting 2012, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Those, in conjunction with all the different associated packages for those builds, makes the EXT folder a particular nightmare to sort out without the history of those developments. 'Fraid all I can offer is if you have a TP kitchen that you can upload I'll take a look at it and see what I can do, but it will have to be in my "spare" time.

You using 2018? 2016 seems to be working correctly, but it doesn't have the RSS window on the homepage. Anyone else seeing this? My first guess is that the processor is being overwhelmed. Did you also kill the RSS program? What else have you installed? Seems I remember something in the old thread about alarms or sounds being cut off, but it was caused by something installed.

For those wanting the Compact QWERTY or other keyboards, found a cab developed by Programmatix that allows easy selection. Seems to work fine on my 2016.21681. Just install, then go into the start menu in a folder called Tools. There you'll see a program titled EZInput SIP Menu. Click on it. Seems to take a bit to load up, so be patient while it does. The cab is posted on the first post of this thread.

O.a.T. Happy Halloween.

I have some idea, (are only ideas or a suggestions, I don't want to invade your wills or your concept of your thread, with this has said I hope to make you understand that I respect your work and just want to share my idea, but anything you do or any decision you take is only yours and it will be respect it, because you are the owner and this Thread is your baby),

1.- I was thinking is you would like to add the cabs from Josh3794 to your list,
I guess is a pain in the ass to make this, but it will be nice to have this "One place reservoir" to look for and to point for others.
2.- I don't Know if it possible, but I have did this in my work. I made an "iframe" that show a "Public folder" from for example "Windows Live Skydrive" (AKA OLD Microsoft Office WorkSpace and TODAY Windows Live Office Web apps). So in this way is Easy to update the download files, and the link to this space is always the same.
Maybe you can put and "iframe" for your FileFactory's download files. Sorry I don't know if this is possible is just an idea.

Re: 1, can and will do. Re: 2, I'll probably be in the Diamond ROM business only for another couple of months. Then, the family and friends will all be upgrading our phones. It's been quite a site when we all walk in to the Sprint store and ask to see a manager! Then the fun begins; have gotten some pretty good deals. I digress, but for this short period of time not sure the iframe effort is worth it on my part since there would only maybe be a new sys or two and maybe 2.5.2020. By the way, I think the only way I would do a 2020 is if it is not an OBoe/Chinese port.

Got the kitchen downloaded and incorporated the 21914 (6.5), 23138 (6.5.3), and 23569 (6.5.5) sys's. Now what exactly is the "something new" you would like to try, e.g., a light 2.5.2016 with RSS that can be activated via the Start menu or a quick link? I personally think that is the best version of Sense out there for the Diamond in terms of compatibility and performance. Finally, do you have an old .erv file so I can get an idea of what's been included in your ROMs?

Happy for YOU, sniff sniff for ME.
How much phones are you going to upgrade?? Ask for a group discount at least!!!
FYI Sprint is making a kind of poll to research which are the plataform tecnology their user wants.
So I guess a lot of changes are coming. Anyway I think Android is a better bet for the next two year. Do you know if in "Los Chaves, NM" are gona be 4G soon??

Thanks again O.a.T. ,
nº 1, will be nice. I gues you are totally correct with nº2 (in this context).
So Far I will go back to Sys21681 since 21683 still be buggy after some fixes.

I hope you can leave us with a Clean LITE ROM, no CHT, no Titanium, no Maxsense, No "Fingerfriendly Keyboard", No Calculator or a Dark cool skin for calculator and a less ringtones. And Dark square Windows Softkey as in your 21681/themed ROM.
SO in this way it will be more easy for make apps updates in the Phone and to take off CHT if it get buggy.

P.S. es que hecho de menos el teclado en español en el "FingerFriendly Keyboard", ya se, ya se, Sorry.

P.

We're changing out between 10 and 12 phones. Probably odd man out here, but I like the Windows 7 Phone technology the best, although at this point I think the early models are too risky so we'll probably go android. No 4G here in NM or any definite plans that I've heard of, and I hate paying $10/month for promises! Probably part of our negotiations.

You should ask for a corporate account, LOL.
mmm me too where my old man live (VA) there is no 4G, so Droid X is like the best bet for now for Him.
Are Verizon in your zone??? Did Sprint has better offers (in plans) for you?? I think Verizon has just release a new limit data plan for just U$15 for Smartphones (before only exist the unlimit plan for u$30).
ANyway, I guess December will be full of Good Deals!!!

P.S.: I think I had not point this but maybe is good info for all the folks that with almost all your ROMs I forget what was a Dead-crash (need take off the battery to reboot) or S.O.D. "Dead at weakup" [(turn off when charging or when sleep (locked)], So your ROMs are the most stable ROM for HTC DIAMOND 500 CDMA (Sprint).

P.S.: I think I had not point this but maybe is good info for all the folks that with almost all your ROMs I forget what was a Dead-crash (need take of the battery to reboot) or S.O.D. "Dead at weakup" [(turn off when charging of when sleep (locked)], So your ROMs are the most stable ROM for HTC DIAMOND 500 CDMA (Sprint).

I could not agree more

O.a.T roms are great, light weight and have a great battery life:headbang:

I'm posting the cab that activates the WinMo lock screen via the standby button on the first post of this thread. I thought it worked really well.

Wow! That was fast. Thanks!
I'll let you know how it goes.

Finally, do you have an old .erv file so I can get an idea of what's been included in your ROMs?[/QUOTE]

I dont save the roms .erv. Hum, well i can install any apps via cabs the reason i went to you was how good reports and speed of rom. Everytime I tried to "cook" sense 2.5.xxxx into anything the phone would just slow down way to much... I was hoping your rom would give me a new life on this phone. Like you im probably going to android in december and also dont feel like paying $10 for 4G and no 4G availiablity here. So basically just a super lite rom with the minimum files to get sense running smoothly the one you stated 2.5.2016 should be just fine. Thank you again.

Well Oat I wanted to thank you for your ROMs and giving me a bit of extra life out of this old phone of mine.

I am however moving to a blackberry in 2 weeks here as the company has decided they want to standardize all phones. As this is a work phone I'm going to have to give it up. I hate to see it go.

Again thank you and keep up the good work.

No, I don't. But if you are using one of my ROMs, wifi and internet sharing are cooked in Start>>System Tools. Last time I checked, they both worked.

Sorry to see you go, as you were a real contributor to this thread. I'll actually be looking at a crackberry too in the next couple of months when I upgrade my phone in January. I just hate the idea of the $10/mo surcharge for a 4G that does not exist in ABQ and their $120/mo everything family plan. Just doesn't compare now to my current family plan at about $80/mo for 3 lines, 2000 minutes, unlimited data, and unlimited text.

My wife has a blackberry she purchased for work. She runs a small accounting firm. After seeing the bill she has to pay every month for hers I'm glad my company provides the phone.

Re: Light O.a.T. ROMs - Oct. 27, 2010

I've been using the 2018 21914 ROM and I've been pestering it to come up with the SMS menu bug but it's been perfectly well behaved! No bugs!

I did install Zenyee's Disable HTC Messaging cab (which may or may not have done anything as the Sense sms interface still comes up) which is floating around on xda developers.

I think you might like 2016.21681 even better as it is a much newer build with increased speed and smoothness.

I tried something "quick and dirty", and all it yielded was a rom that had too many modules to load. There are a lot of packages in the kitchen that are unfamiliar to me. With the time I have available, this is going to be very slow if I have to research those and ferret out what is necessary. If you know the packages included in your Titanium rom, that would help a lot. LMK.
