Just checking to see how much interest there would be in a very, very light, MaxSense ROM. Currently it's based on 23541, but 21895 and 23557 are possible. My small, private local user group has been using it now for about 10 days, and most really like it.

Maybe a few more words on my "ROM Philosophy", so everyone knows what they are buying into if I do post this ROM.

First, in regards to SYS's, I use to try the latest versions, but most times could see very little difference in capabilities or performance. Seems, if anything, I would see bugs in the SYS's. So I've found a SYS that works and I've stuck with it.

In regards to SENSE, very similar to the above, with the exception that at this point I am aware and following the state of and developments of 2015, 2016, etc. It's likely that I will be moving to those sometime in the future when I am convinced they offer something substantially better than 2012, are very robust themselves, and integrate well with Sense additions like Co0kie, MaxSense, GTX, etc.

In regards to "light", I cook very few apps into my ROMS for two simple reasons. It makes it easier to keep up with the latest versions of those apps without reflashing and more than likely they can be installed in internal memory thus freeing up working memory. In fact, I haven't flashed a new ROM in months! Personally, I create a complete backup of my rom and all my installed apps that do not modify Sense, after I've installed and set them up, and after a thorough cleaning/optimization of the registry. Then it makes it easy to start from there with sense mods. I've never had a problem upgrading sense mods, for e.g., Co0kie or MaxSense, to their latest versions.

The latter will have to change a bit as Maxycy, the creator of MaxSense, is currently not allowing the posting of cabs. I will probably weigh carefully the severity of any MaxSense bugs reported along with an evaluation of the corrections/extensions the updated versions offer before releasing a new ROM.

Finally, I do no "artistic mods", like skinning, etc., because I have no artistic capability and enough others do and post that I can generally find something, like transparency, if I look.

Please consider the above and LMK if you really are interested under these conditions. Thanks.

Hmmm? My Diamond, after installing all my apps and MaxSense leaves free Storage/Program of 57MB/75.6MB respectively. My other Diamond with Co0kie is at 55MB/85MB, albeit with a few different apps.

Sounds like a great idea! There isn't a basic no-nonsense ROM that is current posted up here anymore. Plus, I personally like the basic look without getting too artsy.

Go for it!

I have installed S2U, STU Energy Theme, and Touchpal. I also have 2 .wav ringtones because of the .mp3 ringtongs being corrupted. I'm down to 2.53MB of storage.

I have been thinking about going back to Moonscape's ROM since he updated but I've been kind of watching to see if anything else comes out in the next few weeks.

I like reasonably full featured "lite" ROMS that allow me to install applications (that allow it) to Internal Storage. Thanks for offering, it would be great to have any level of ROM development for the Diamond.

Besides a fully working Sense 2.5.2012, I cook in the following few apps into my ROM:
VoiceCommand
FM Radio
QuickGPS
Adobe PDF
Calculator
SPB Screenshot
TotalCommander
XTask
psShutXP
FreeCell
Teeter
AudioBooster and
Windows Media Player.

I then install, via cabs, the following non-Sense modifying apps.
cleanRam
myPhone
Snooze Options
PPCPimBackup
SleepTimer
BandSwitch
Bing
BlueToggler
Fexploreext
GoogleMaps
GoogleSearch
GoogleYouTube
MyNote
NaviComputer
OMarket
OperaMini5
RichesseGPS
SprintMail
SKTools
SPB Backup
Touch_InCall and
Weather4me

If there is something basic that most would like to see cooked into the ROM, other than I've listed above, LMK and I will consider adding. Still haven't decided if I am going to do this, but I am getting closer! :laughing6::laughing6::laughing6:

I am all for trying your fully working sense 2.5 rom, without cookie mod cooked in, as it is easier to update when new versions come out

I also like the 6.5.x roms, I have gotten used to the start menu on the bottom left hand corner

Seems like most are just interested in a very light, working rom. Am trying to set up an account for hosting my boring, but functional and very light rom that integrates well with Sense mods, like Co0kie and MaxSense. Stay tuned.

I'll cook up a light 21895 ROM for you to try out. Can't guarantee since I don't use that SYS, but it should be as robust as 23541 and maybe a bit smaller. Got my hosting account authorized so they should both be up over the next day or so.

After these are up and I get some feedback, I'll probably post MaxSense versions of these. MaxSense 1.05 is supposed to be out soon, so will probably wait for those, plus a couple of days to see what, if any problems arise.

Light Sense 2.5.2012 ROMs - 6.1 and 6.5.x

THANKS
Primary thanks goes to OMJ, without whose kitchen and without the countless hours of support he provided to his users, this would not be possible. Thanks then flows naturally to all he thanked and specifically to MWALT and AMIKAM who have provided so much to me personally and to the Diamond community in general. Also, with the new Sense 2.5.2016 and the MaxSense ROMs, thanks goes to Programmatix and Maxycy.

THE RULES
I am NOT responsible for any damage that you may cause to your device! Before flashing, make sure your phone is unlocked! If your phone is not unlocked, look here.

DONATIONS
Several have asked me about donations. If you would like to donate something, I suggest the following. If you would like to say "Thanks" for the Sense 2.5.2012 ROMS, I would suggest you donate to OMJ here. If you would like to say "Thanks" for the Sense 2.5.2016 ROMS, give to Programmatix here. If you would like to say "Thanks" for the MaxSense Roms, give to Maxycy here. Mention these come at my suggestion and that is good enough for me.

Know Issue: Cannot select bottom programs in the Program Selector for Quick Links. Have asked for help
but until I receive a response you can create another link of the same program preceded with AAA so that it will appear at the top of the list and is thus selectable. You will need to install an "Action Screen". Click here for the one I use or you can search for others at XDA. You can configure MaxSense from scratch, or you can click here for the theme I used as a basis. Other VGA themes are also available in this thread.

Go here.

Titanium
These ROMs are identical to the Sense 2.5.2012 ones, except the Sense Packages have been omitted and the Windows Weather Widget has been included. As a result, they are ~15+MB smaller, which should easily accommodate those using SPB's MS. These have not been tested, so please let me know what problems exist.

Impressive icon set, though I'm guessing some will like and others will not. After a quick read-through of the above, looks like it can be installed via a cab. Why not follow that route? Also, if I install them into the rom for public consumption, I need to get Dinik's permission. Not sure I really want to get into this level of graphics customization.

My primary goal for this release was a light, fast and robust vanilla ROM that has a lot of memory available and is thus readily customizable with an individuals apps and gui customizations.

When it comes to MaxSense, Maxycy is only allowing his gui customization to be cooked into a rom. I think I understand where he is coming from in terms of being overloaded by waves of support questions and feature requests.

Thanks for letting us try your roms O.a.T. Feels pretty fast downloaded the one that you had labeled 6.1 but its a 6.5 rom. Was wondereing cause i didnt think manila 2.5 was compatible with 6.1. Anyway i thought it was a max manila rom but it seems to be only sense. unless i am doing something wrong.

Re: 6.1/6.5. You are absolutely right about the 6.1 being mislabeled; it is a 6.5 ROM, with the start menu on the top. Have corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: MaxManila. Right again. Originally I started out asking about a MaxSense ROM, but most of the feedback I got was for a very light Sense-only ROM. A few postings back, I mentioned I would probably be releasing a MaxSense ROM once the new 1.05 comes out. Actually, probably a few days after it hits my mailbox, to see what if any issues exist and allowing some time for fixing.

Re: Anyone Interested in a Light, MaxSense ROM

I'm downloading now, but I'm hesitant to flash just yet, since I just got everything set up the way I like it on the latest OMJ ROM (the May 21 Sense 2.5/Kimi messaging mod version). I'm sure I'll get the itch to flash again before too long, though, and this will be the ROM I try next. I've always enjoyed the "sex appeal" of the Energy ROMs, but I've had the best MMS success with the OMJ ROMs, plus reasonable free memory.

It's great to see someone still supporting the dusty, creaky, ol' Diamond, though! ;) I'm glad SOMEBODY with the time and know-how to cook ROMs hasn't abandoned those of us either stuck in contracts or too broke to upgrade to a TP2/EVO/HD2/etc...

Thanks O.a.T., and I look forward to using this ROM in the near future!

Just a heads up re: MMS. I don't include ArcSoft MMS in the rom because of the (old?) problems associated with it. I've been using SprintMail, which I install via cab into the storage card and have been quite satisfied with it, although admittedly I don't rec'v much MMS.

Re: upgrading. I'm actually eligible to upgrade one of my phones now, but a) I still really like my Diamond, and b) I'm not sure I'd get the relative value out of an EVO that I get w/the Diamond.

I have been using this ROM for a couple days now. Faster than anything I've used so far. The only thing I don't like are the icons. I installed Dinik's icons and that fixed most of them. Eventually, I'll probably change the rest of them. Overall, I like the minimum apps installed and speed. Thanks!
