Yeah no kidding. I'm on a National Freedom 900 plan between five lines with insurance and the unlimited texting/data for $20/mo. and it is pretty good considering.

I am with ya 100% dude. I am in the AT&T divested market and it doesn't look to be any better with them so far.

Alltel was too good to be true... good customer service, very fair plans and pricing, sweet un-crippled phones, and coverage was great in my area.

Now, I look forward to higher pricing. The only + I can see is the roll over minutes AT&T has.

As soon as I can confirm that Sprint's CDMA coverage includes EVDO in my small town, I am switching to Sprint just for the costs savings along vs AT&T. I worry though that Sprint's coverage in my town was a roaming agreement with Alltel and will that agreement continue a year from now with AT&T taking over that network?

Sorry to hear that DM. I feel for you too. You should be able to keep your Alltel plan at least and at least change feature codes.

I agree with everything you've said in this thread. I didn't sign a contract with Verizon, I signed with Alltel, and for good reason (price and service). I haven't heard anything about it yet, as I'm still on Alltel (for now), but I'm hoping they have a chance for a no penalty "out" on the contract, as I didn't want an account with Verizon. If that's so, I have a friend that says he can get me a SERO contract, but I'll believe that when I see it. Either way, Sprint may be seeing another new customer in the near future.

As long as you don't change your plan (I think you can do features but not minutes) or upgrade your phone if you weren't on a smart phone plan before (like I'm on a National Freedom and not a Smart Choice) you will keep your same rate plan. That said I got a text message saying I would owe hundreds in messaging bills because I don't have a texting plan but yet I do. If I get a huge bill there will be hell.

So far Verizon has honored all of the things in my alltel contract. I have the feeling tha they will do this until it is expired because them being able to say they are #1 in size is a big PR boost. But I am sill considering T-mobile. If sprint does a $50 unlimited plan I might jump to them. Either way big red is not going to be my server forever

my plan was expired and i was almost 10+ days over when my contract ended. i did not have to change my plan. i have the smartchoice 500 with insurance. i still have my 7pm night and weekends, unlimited txting. the only thing that changed was my insurance, which i have no idea why, but it went up 99 cents.

I wish I had the Smart Choice plan still because I could have stayed with Verizon for sure.

hmmm. just look for a 2nd party carrier, the one i have my plan is 39.99 a month unlimited voice and text and 20 mb of data a month, on verizon network!!!
