sprint vs GSM?

I am on sprint and would be content to stay, but my friend is getting a new iphone and would sell me his 2G for really freaking cheap. I'm sure I could probably trade or sell/buy my CDMA diamond for a GSM diamond, so I'd have two phones, then if I signed a contract I could get a blackberry storm or some other phone, that way Id have 3 phones all for pretty cheap. But I like sprint, so I was wondering if someone with T mobil or ATT who has a comparable plan to mine could fill me in on price/reliability. Currently I do the unlimited data, unlimited txt, and 450 daytime mins with free nites and weekends that start at 7pm for $70 a month. Is there a comparable plan to this one GSM? Does anyone have a t mobil diamond and do they like it? any info is appreciated.

What you can do is get on ATT's or Tmobile's website and configure a plan you want and compare. I can almost guarantee that your current Sprint plan will be much less.

I live in vegas, have the same plan (only pay $30/month for mine though. ), but i personally dont even consider gsm networks to e cell carriers. In my city Sprint/Nextel is the service that will work just about anywhere in town. My sprint phone even worked underneath Mandalay Bay when i used to cook for that casino. (yes, underneath, the buffet, and main kitchens were in the basement under the ground.)

Re: sprint vs GSM?

Everybody is right... GSM networks are not nearly as good as CDMA networks. You have to concider these things:
1. Go with the carrier with best coverage/signal for where you will primarily be using your phone. The phone you choose to buy is of no use to you if you don't get a good signal where you will be using it.
2. Pricing. (If that's a factor for you or not). Sprint will beat AT&T by a long shot and you will get much more for your money.
3. Data speeds with Sprint blow AT&T away! If web browsing on your phone is something you like then stay with Sprint. At&T will be decent but not as good as Sprint
4. choose which is more important to you... the phone or the network???
5. I would never go with a specific carrier just for a specific phone unless you are positive their service is good in your area and the pricing/plans are acceptable to you along with CS etc.
6. Last, I would not use an old 2G iPhone even if it was free. AT&T data on 3G is slow enough so imagine how slow 2G must be. Sprint's Rev A data kicks butt (tethering speeds especially) and it will be getting much beter when they start kicking of WIMAX!

Re: sprint vs GSM?

i was thinking of switching to sprint except they charge you every time you activate a phone. with tmobile you can just take your sim card out and put it in any other phone and it is free.

No they dont. You can go online to your account and change your esn ANYtime, for free. Yes not as quick or easy as a sim change, but its still free.
