Sprint/Verizon Merg?
 

My mom mentions something about it. I haven't any idea her source, so I'm going plainly on what I heard. Anyone else hear anything about this?

nope, only heard the Alltel/Verizon merger. Centennial is also being bought out by AT&T.

I didn't think it was going to happen, but who knows with the way things are going right now. Two top cell companys merging would probably increase a lot of revenue, but I don't know, I still have undetermined personal issues with Verizon I'm glad to know I don't have to 'just deal with' now.

There have been talks about a Verizon/ Sprint merger for a few years now. This would make them the biggest wireless provider in the nation. I don't think it would be a bad thing but I would prefer that they stick with the Sprint business model.

isnt going to happen. At least not in the near future. With the recent acquisition of Alltel i dont think the FCC would be to quick to allow another merger anytime soon.

the only way for this to happen would be for sprint to be going under, since Verizon is the #1 service provider since there aquesition of alltel, noones heard of Sprint going under so i highly doubt it. we would have found that out before any mention of a meger.

Why would Sprint put all of that effort into getting the Palm Pre and then just give it away to Verizon without actually letting the phone make their CEO some cash before they sell off their assets?

That would be terrible. Plus the FCC would never allow it, they already threw a fit when VZW merged with Alltel, forcing them to shed a bunch of clients for fear of unfair competition. Sprint is way larger than Alltel, so the FCC would likely throw a temper tantrum.
