GSM type phones
Ok so I'm Navy and have the Touch Pro for Sprint. I was wondering this. If I get any GSM (sim card) phone buy it fully like a cheap ATT phone can I use it over seas with another phone carrier that uses a sim card. I know I can use ATT over there but its like rumored to be 1$ a min for talking so I wanted to get a cheap phone and just get a pay as you go sim card from some where over in europe or japan. I just hate contracts. Even payed full price for my TP so ya. Thanks.

Re: GSM type phones
I was Navy myself, and a place like Japan has WCDMA networks besides GSM, and if you would like to do research on those networks, wiki is our best friend.
Note: You would also have to get the AT&T model unlocked before you step foot in any country outside the continental US. |
Re: GSM type phones
...And make sure the phone has at least the 900 & 1800 MHz bands on it. :)

Re: GSM type phones
Get an unlocked world phone and buy local SIM's for the country you are in.
