My Advice for Sprint users
Over the years, just over 12, I have been a loyal customer of Sprint. I deserved every break and promotion I received because I had 10 Lines and referred many of my friends who became customers. In the beginning, it was good, just good! But, the last few years have been horrible.
Every time I called whether it was good or bad, I spoke with a stupid person whom I could not understand. Who by the way, never transferred me to someone else without a fight. I signed up with AT&T, I wanted to try my hand at the iphone. Plus, I wasn't going down the ladder, I mean I didn't want worse service (T-mobile). Really, I was just so sick of Sprint, mainly because of their horrible customer service and stupid polices. I was testing the competition. However, AT&T wasn't for me either. Sprints' service by far is not the best. How do I know? I'm with Verizon now. Yeah, I'm paying $10 more per line, no more any mobile and I'm capped on my data. But, I've never gone over 2gb in data, I have any Verizon and favorite 5 and I have service like never before. Oh, and the customer service, I feel like they're nice Americans! In short, Sprint compensates their lack and total disregard for customer relations with their semi-impressive lineup and unlimited data. With all their campaigning, Sprint is exactly what they set out to be, cheap service. If you want cheap service may I suggest Boost, they are one and the same. For me the term you get what you pay for never felt so obvious… Happy Verizon Customer. |
Re: My Advice for Sprint users
I wouldn't goto VZ unless I was making at least $1000 a month. Sprints dialup level 3G speeds have been driving me crazy tho,so much that I'm considering either T-mobile or USCC.

Re: My Advice for Sprint users
I have 5 lines with Verizon, unlimited text, 1400 minutes, 10 numbers I can call for free, unlimited data on 2 phones and 75mb data on 3. I pay $275 a month.
An American always answers support (the few times I have had to call), they are courteous and if they cannot help, they escalate without fuss. I have service almost everywhere (I live in the woods), as well as 3g/4g. I would NEVER go back to Sprint or AT&T. |

You're preaching to the choir unfortunately. We feel your pain BUT just like church most of us are comfortable enough where we are and are not willing to follow. To each his own. Me? Well that good discount plus better than everyone else price/plan plus decent signal everywhere pluss unlimited data (for now). Aaaah who needs customer service anyway...

Re: My Advice for Sprint users
I like sprint's customer service... The most recent problem I had was about early summer when I subscribed to some radio stations without knowing it, I was seeing what was there and must have pressed it
Anyways I called up customer service, asked why my bill had this extra charge (It happened twice since first month I didn't catch it). The rep told me what it was and without me asking, she offered to remove it and refund me for both months. I don't know what reps you talked with, but a rep that knew I was looking at extra charges because I told them I was looking at my bill, and offered to refund me before I asked, I couldn't be happier with how she was. I can't say if she was the exception but the other times I had problems I went to the sprint stores and got the same level of service. Mainly they did what I needed, without asking many questions and seemed respectful. Another time was I had lost my charging cord for old phone, I went to sprint to ask them to buy one, they said they would just give me one for free and walked over to shelf and opened package and gave it to me. |
12yrs and counting Sprint customer too, but I'm staying. Haven't had a plan change since 02, so you can assume how much my grandfathered plan with unlimited data/SMS/mms/n&w @ 8/roaming e.t.c comes out to every month. Hint, less than 40 with taxes included, AND NO, its not sero! !
Have a degree in Finance, work in a bakery and make just over a grand a month. Service might not Verizon great, but its the pocket that counts. Same plan on Sprint would cost me 80/month on any national carrier before taxes. Even the prepaid ones would still be in the $50 range. Times are hard for some folks , mate. Sent from my SPH-D710 |
VZN may have better towers and infrastructure but Sprint wins on volume of towers hands down against all providers. I suggest you take your VZN phone into the suburbs and turn off roaming. I use Boost and with shrinkage I'll be down to $35 unlimited, with no throttle or cap, in 3 months. Even with no roaming I have signal everywhere I go with the exception of the mountains.

Re: My Advice for Sprint users
Sprint's website is pretty awesome to use. And their unlimited data and mobile to mobile is awesome too. Phone line up is at its best right now.
One thing I am getting pissed at is, incredibly slow 3G speeds, and price hikes every year around almost. $10 for 'premium' data, and if we get a device thats any way smart, we have to add that $10. So $129.99 + $19.99 per line + $10 per line with 'premium' data. Premium data was first for 4G devices thats understandable, but now its practically for all devices. Makes it that much worse. Oh yeah they raised the ETF, and those who were already contracted had been effected as well. |

I didn't mean in every town, if Sprint isn't popular in your area then of course they won't have more towers. Nationwide, Sprint dominates with sheer tower numbers but they are slow to update their backhaul. I live in a rural town in South Carolina, if I can get signal and still browse the web fairly fast on my phone then most other people should as well. I think you may just be in an area that Sprint doesn't see as a very profitable....I've read posts of people in southern Cali that can't get signal to save their lives so you're not alone.

Re: My Advice for Sprint users
i was with sprint for 5 years and up until febuary 2011 i was happy aside from the horrid customer service. then the slow data speeds started along with not being able to make or receive phone calls or texts. in june my wife and i moved to verizon and even though we pay $30 more a month even with my employee discount we are 10x more happy. the customer service has been outstanding and my service is awesome. the 3g and lte speeds are ten fold what sprint has.
i know people bash verizon but i am totally satisfied with them. when my two year contract is up in 2013 and when i loose unlimited data we may look at our options at that point. if sprint axes the unlimited data plans and does not fix their network i can see mass amounts of people leaving. |

here's my reply from dan@sprint.com: Dear Eric , Thank you for contacting Dan@sprint.com. I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me today. I apologize for the difficulty you are having with your Sprint service. As discussed on our call, I have escalated your network concerns to the network engineering team for further review to determine what can be done to resolve your concerns with the data speeds on your HTC Arrive device. The turnaround time is normally 7 business days. I will follow up with you on 11/01/11 after 3PM EDT (2PM CDT) with the status of your network concerns. During our interaction I also advised the current service agreement for 224-XXX-XXXX ends on 07/15/13. This is due to your corporate discount you accepted on 07/16/11. Your request to have the early termination fee waived due to your service concerns would be reviewed after I receive a response from the network team with their findings. If you have any questions, please contact me directly at 757-XXX-XXXX. I am in the office this week Monday to Thursday from 9AM to 6PM EDT and Friday from 9AM to 1PM EDT. Thank you for contacting Sprint, we appreciate your business. Sincerely, Sprint gotta love how the turnaround time is conveniently located close to when my next bill is due. |

Ahh I see, thank you. Infighting shouldn't surprise you in a forum, it's as common as sarcasm or narcissism. Sent from my ppcT7380 Ti/FRX06-07 via PPCG app |
Re: My Advice for Sprint users
eric keep at it and i bet they will let you our of the contract. just tell them you cannot have a functional phone on their network and you need your phone for work.
also since you will be looking for a new phone for tmobile in addition to the HD7 i heard that the htc titan will be coming to the carrier. |

Edit- And btw Boost doesn't need to know my name because I never need to call them, never a dropped call, always have signal when in Sprint native coverage, and my web works just fine. Sent from my ppcT7380 Ti/FRX06-07 via PPCG app |
Re: My Advice for Sprint users
Before things get out of hand, lets lay low on the personal insults. We can disagree with each other without using them.
Anyways, Boost uses the exact same service sprint does, so as far as reception goes its the same (minus 4g of course). Though Boost support from my experience is worse then sprint. I once called them to try to get a TP2 activated on Boost and they kept refusing even to try, so I kept insisting and they hanged up on me lol (And it wasn't a disconnect). At least in sprint they'd stay on the line hours if necessary, they never once hanged up on me. As for Verizon, I only started dealing with them recently trying to do some stuff and unfortunately I am getting mixed stories from different agents...*sigh* which is normal for sprint too but so far I can't say yet how it compares. Personally though when dealing with sprint, I suggest chat support/email. They seem to be better then phone support. |

I think verizon customer care is top notch. At least for me soo far. |
Never had a problem with Sprint customer care. They gave me 1000 free texts on my old plan. Got a new airrave with no monthly charge. And free sprint to home on my sero 500 plan, giving me unlimited anytime minutes using google voice! Retentions will do about anything to keep you from leaving.

The Boost FAQ at Howard forums is a good resource for knowing what you need and the steps you must take. With Boost and adding a Sprint branded phone it's sometimes hit or miss with multiple csr's, one thing I noticed is using a female to make the call and being as nice as possible pays off. Also some TP2's cannot be put on Boost period...the system just fully rejects them. I personally added my TP2 and my wife's, first call, process took 10 minutes for both phones and I have all the programming info for both phones. Sent from my ppcT7380 Ti/FRX06-07 via PPCG app |
