Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

Do you guys think its fair to pay for the additional 10$ a month for 4g service when you dont have it.

I tried calling sprint and they tell me that the 10$ premium data is because of the softwear on the phone and not because of getting the 4g service.

So whether or not I have 4g is irrelavent. Its because of the phones softwear.

I really dont think its fair that there taking money from us simply because of a phones capabilites. If we get premium data then thats a different story but Im surfing at 3g speeds on my Epic just as I was on my TP2!

Arn't there limits to 3g upload download speeds? So even if this phone could handle it if I dont have 4g coverage why do I have to pay for it.

the 10 dollars is not for 4g. all smartphones must now pay it. even the touch pro 2. would you prefer that instead of doing it as an add on, they just raised the prices?
i think i would. then at least it would take some off from my 25 percent discount. i dont mind to pay a higher price as i know they need it to stay afloat. i just wish they would just call it part of my plan base plan. i hate that you dont get a discount on add ons.

There was such a stink about the $10 4G "tax", that Sprint needed to expand the fees to other smartphones so the consumer didn't feel ripped off.

I spend 10 dollars on beer and snacks almost every night... 10 bucks a month for TRULY UNLIMITED DATA is well worth it to me.
Keep me unlimited and I will remain a loyal customer. I am a Sprint Premiere customer cuz I've been with Sprint since their logo was red back in 1990 when I was rocking my Motorola StarTac.

+1 on my 13th year with Sprint and unlike most people I talk to, I've never had a single issue with them, not even with CS. 10 bucks well spent.

Re: Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

the $10 premium data fee is for true unlimited data and not just 4G. on the other hand im paying for sprint's 3G service and not getting it, sometimes my speeds are reasonable but its unstable and not constant. till they get it fixed to how it was they will keep crediting my account.

then instead of screwing only certain customers they decided to screw everyone and that to them makes everyone happy.. LMFAO

but like others have said its still cheaper then other carriers rates and well worth it for truly unlimited data service

I agree. I'd rather have had the rate raised by $10..An add on fee makes you feel as if you're paying money for nothing, where if it were just the rate...well, it'd be just the rate.

I have to say that I really can't believe people are still talking about this. Be happy OP. The rate is cheaper than the competition. You get true unlimited data. So far, Sprint hasn't blinked at those of us that tether. Sprint is the only carrier left that still makes a real effort at value service.

So, let me ask a question, you pay $30 + $10= $40 a month for data ?

Re: Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

I have sero premium and I have a 4g device.

so I pay 40$ + 10$ for the 4g device.

Re: Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

all smart hpones get the 10 dollar fee. not just 4g phones on regular plans. is this not true on sero?

Re: Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

They added $10 to our bill and their still cheaper than big red and big blue, and are the only one to offer truly unlimited data.

Enough said.

yankees45us 07-11-2011 11:22 AM

Why is this still an issue? ALL SMARTPHONES require the $10 premium fee except for the replenish which for a limited time will be waiving the fee as long as you have it.
As for sero premium accounts they still require an extra $10 for 4g. So if you have lower plan its $30 plus $10 for sero premium then another $10 for 4g to make it $50. That's still a great price for truly unlimited data.

wait... so if i currently have a TP2 on the $30 dollar plan, and i plan on activating another TP2, im going to have to pay $40!?

$40 for unlimited internet ? Man you can get home internet for that price in some places....

I'll stick with my $30 With Verizon.... I'm grandfathered in, so the rate change does not effect me.

I think you missunderstand the SERO Premium plan.

$40/month is the cost of the Entire plan, not just the data. You're paying $30/month Just for the data add on in addition to whatever you pay for phone/texting service.

SERO Premium= 500 minutes, unlimited text messages, unlimited data = $40/month!

No. Only if you want to use a 3g android phone.

TP2 is exempted from the $10 fee. I've added a TP2 to my sero last month and it was fine, still at $30/month

Re: Paying for sprints 4g service when you dont have it

Ah, then sorry, it's not a bad deal.....IF your on a SERO plan.

You guys talk about giving sprint an extra $10 to help them is ok but, paying $30 for a 500 min a month with unlimited data is going to put them out of buisness.

If everyone had a plan like that, they would be in the same boat as T-Mobile, forsale because they were not making a profit.

But, Dam, 500min with unlimted data for $30, if there was a 1000min for around $50 a month with data, I would even try sprint.... good price.

sero 1200 = $49.99/mo
