Sprint service changing to 1x a lot more frequently then usual
 

Could this mean my PRL is outdated or should I try a different radio to fix this?

not sure, i get this a lot too, but whenever i open an app that needs data, it switches back to 3g... maybe a battery saver feature?

IF you look at sprint coverage map it has changed dramatically..their contract for 3g tower lease ran out and they renegotiated the deal as 3g roaming as its cheaper.

the weird thing is, i'm in an area that is "drowning" in 3g coverage, so i don't get why it keeps changing back and forth. Very annoying when i'm trying to tether and it locks in 1x mode

maybe he was implying you were getting throttled for heavy useage?
i dont think thats the case though.

its been said. i know they can, but i dont think they ever do. other networks do though. t mobile gives true unlimited, but they throttle you down to double digit kbps after 5 gigs.
