Why can't VirginMobile get decent phones?

Why doesn't Virgin Mobile have any good phones? I want inexpensive lines (like 2 $25 everything plans for my wife and myself, but their Android option, the Samsung Intercept has a terrible screen resolution. I would gladly pay more for a better phone. I am not paying Verizon $160 for two data lines + texting any time soon, I don't care how good the phone is.

Has anyone heard rumors of better phones coming out?
