VZW Weirdness?
The past week or so, we have been experiencing some strange goings one with our VZW phones.
More than the "usual" strangeness, that is. We both have received a number of calls from 0000000000 (all-zero) numbers. Nobody is there. Also, a few calls from "unknown caller", also with nobody on the other end or, if there is someone there, it is always someone in our contacts. For the past three days, the Boss Lady's phone has been showing a notification for 2 voice mails. She keeps checking her voice mail, and there is nothing there. Anybody else experiencing any more-than-usual flakiness from our favorite company that likes to give itself multi-million dollar loans? |
Re: VZW Weirdness?
I work there, have never heard of this....
Did you call tech support and report the issue? What phone does your wife have? I've seen every type device do this before. No explanation but there's always a fix for it. |
Re: VZW Weirdness?
Called tech support after she got home from work this morning.
She suggested I try programming the phone (*228, option 2). No joy. She said she could remove voice mail from her phone and put it back as a last resort. Boss Lady said she had no VM messages, to have at it. When TS removed VM, the notification disappeared from the phone. She put VM back, so the Boss Lady needs to reset her password and set up her outgoing message. But no more false notification. As for the weird numbers, I hear that happens a lot around election time. Doesn't surprise me since politicians are still allowed to use demon dialers to go after cell phones. |
Re: VZW Weirdness?
well glad you got fixed up for the most part! :) I'm not sure if we can block all zeros but you can always ask to try and block it.

Re: VZW Weirdness?
Oh, we know that carriers can't very well block the voice spam of politicians. After all, the politicians gave themselves exemption from being identified as spammers.
If VZW would just get their network straightened out around here... Yesterday, our phones made the transition from EDT to EST with no problem, but at 3:32 PM, both phones said the time was 8:32 PM. Boss Lady rebooted hers. Time corrected, but she couldn't get a data connection for about an hour. My un-rebooted phone, still showing GMT, had no problems with MMS or internet. The phones were about 6 inches apart... Around here, people will often start phone conversations with "I'm on Verizon, so when the call drops, I will call you right back." Never had crappy coverage issues before the Assimilation. |
All times are GMT -4. The time now is 10:47 AM. |
