Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
Possible Sprint merging with T-Mobile and switching over to LTE. Get ready for price increases. 2 crappy companies merge into 1, Yayyyyyyyy!
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/...ors-re-emerge/ Sprint’s CEO Dan Hesse sat down with the Financial Times and re-confirmed the wireless provider’s option to pursue LTE if and when the time is right. According to Hesse, Sprint and Clearwire are in the enviable position of having access to ample 4G spectrum that is able to support LTE on top of the current WiMAX network. This over-abundance of 4G spectrum, and the possibility of deploying LTE, is causing analysts to re-consider the potential for a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile. Rumors of a merger between Sprint and T-Mobile surfaced in 2008 but the talks reportedly stalled because the two companies use two very different and incompatible wireless technologies (*cough*Nextel*cough). If both carriers adopt LTE, a merger is more likely as Sprint would receive a boost from T-Mobile’s 33 million subscribers and T-Mobile would gain much needed access to 4G spectrum. Hesse acknowledged that there was a “logic” to the merger but failed to comment on the possibility that the two wireless providers are in discussions.

Re: Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
Id completely support this, since it would add a third "real" competitor to the US market. Giving them the same number as ATT, and a large choice of possible futures.
I'd suggest slowly phasing out Tmobiles gsm, and refitting GSM towers with LTE or Wimax, while keeping sprints rock solid 3g CDMA. |

Re: Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
Leave up to Sprint to buy technology they aren't equipped for...
Nextel's iDEN/WiDEN nearly killed Sprint when they first bought them out GSM too? Could be interesting though

Re: Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
A merger would not make much sense...If anything I say have T-mobile and Sprint divide up Clearwire....so T-mobile will deploy networks in areas and sprint in other making the roll out 2x faster...
Once Sprint and T-mobile can get 100% coverage they should merge up and make T-mobile like boost network and Sprint will go compete with verizon and AT&T in the carrier grade market.

Re: Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
I just don't see how this would help since there is no t-mobile data coverage where I live. Guess I would be one of those customers that gets stuck paying for something I'm not getting. Whoops I'm already doing that now. No 4g for my evo.

Re: Sprint/T-Mobile Possible Merger?
This would be nice, I could get a HD2 than.......... but the chances of it happening in time before they disappear is pretty slim.
