Verizon Insurance Transfer

I am trying to transfer my insurance from my TP to a TP2. For my birthday my mom got me a TP2. She had an upgrade available on here account and ordered the phone. She never activated it and gave it to me. I was about to activate it the other day and some representative on the phone told me that it couldn't be done because it was not ordered through my account. However in the past I have gotten phones from people and activated them on my account and was able to have the insurance transferred. Anyone have any insight as to how I would be able to get insurance.

Re: Verizon Insurance Transfer

Call again maybe a different rep will get you in. I have never had issues insuring a phone from 3rd party purchase, but that's Sprint.

Re: Verizon Insurance Transfer

Thanks for the input. I Think I am just going to go into the store and see if someone there can help me because that is where it happened in the past.

Re: Verizon Insurance Transfer

I have never had to do anything with insurance. As long as it is active it will transfer to any phone automatically.

Re: Verizon Insurance Transfer

Glad you got it done. They shouldn't have given you a problem anyway. There is a 30 day policy, where you have 30 days to add insurance from day of purchase.

Re: Verizon Insurance Transfer

Just to add to this. After going through almost the same thing, I found some info on this. Verizon does not do the insurance, it's a 3rd party and I have heard this from 2 different reps. The insurance is tied to the phone number, not the phone.

So, even if you didn't update the insurance and something happend, they would cover you (of course after you pay the $100) warranty is a different story tho.

It's funny on my last phone, I picked it up used and activated it. I asked him to cancel the insurance because it was a used phone, he said the same thing and I was assued that it would cover me, even on a used phone. I heard it again when I got another phone.
