Whats coming from Sprint?
 

Whats up with Sprint? I have heard of nothing coming out of this company lately, its like everything has stopped. I haven’t heard of any new phones while T-Mobile seems to be out with a new one everyday.

Lately, when I call customer service, they are always asking me to fill out a survey asking to rate them and if all my issues are fixed. Seems to me there might be some big-time layoffs coming.

i only say it cuz i can already tell how this thread is gonna end up. you just cant mention sprint and t mo in the same sentence around here with out starting a fight.

Nobody goes to carrier discussions.

I also want to know when they are going to release 6.5 for my TP2, I thought it was supposed to be Jan. 10. Thats my problem with Sprint, seems like they keeping everyone in the dark.

nobody goes there because it doesnt count towards post count or rep. sprints official statment say 6.5 will be released by the end of q1 which is march 31, 2010.

The surveys are nothing new. And there already have been layoffs.

no its because we get paid on those surveys and also we are held to those surveys due to if we don't resolve those issues then we can get written up or fired but don't hold it against us its so sprint could get better on cx service.... if you really want to voice your opinion do the email one cause that goes to the person right under the director of the site you called.... take it from me cause i am a sprint retentions rep

I have been also been waiting for news of new phone to sprint... I love my TP2 but always looking to upgrade! Any word anyone?

this thread doesnt sound like its going to end well but i will contribute. sprint does have the supersonic coming and that has the same specs as the hd2 but its android. 4.3" inch screen, snapdragon, and capacitve screen. too bad im a winmo fan, otherwise i wouldnt have to switch to tmobile to get the hd2.its also wimax capable.

yeah TP2 is awesome but i can always use a bigger screen... not greedy but wud b nice! :)

I've posted in the android forums and carrier forums too, its just this is the forum I usually look at since I have a TP2.

I don't know, lately I've been getting bored with my TP2, maybe cause its really not as much different than my old TP1. Even with my TP1 I had WinMo 6.5 running Mighty. Its just like there hasn't been much progress in the TP2. Yeah I know its a bigger screen than the old tp, but thats about it really. I wanted to know whats new with Sprint because even with my Sero plan, I'll quit just because the phones are starting to suck.

No what? I work in advanced tech so I know all about those. 10 for 10 this month ;-) They have just started sending more out because you have to meet a certain % of passing surveys and some months you may get 1 or 2 and some 6-8. All they did was increase how many to give a better idea of who is resolving issues and who isn't.

well i am extremely happy with the TP2... of course a better one comes out ill def get my hand on it but for now TP2 is a great phone, with every feature i will need!!! :)

To the OP, i have been tracking your threads. Start posting stuff in the correct section, im going to move this to Carrier discussion, seeing as its talking about Sprint and nothing to do with the Touch Pro 2.

you know we do have other sub-forums and my job isn't to walk 3 paces behind you to clean up your sloppy posting habits. Posting in the incorrect subforum because you feel the correct one doesn't get traffic is not a valid excuse.

Let's try to get into the habit of choosing the correct sub-forum for the thread topic please.

There's a WiMax candybar phone coming out, and the big thing right now is the 4g Overdrive wireless hotspot.

the supersonic? too bad it's Android.....face it, Sprint is in sad sad shape right now....I work w/ many that have been laid off.....I'm just glad I don't work for them anymore :D

I read a week ago that Sprint was skipping 6.5 for the TP2. They are waiting on some other 6.XX update that is suppose to be coming before WM7

It looks like sprint might not even be getting the Supersonic, according to some a leaked screenshot it seems T-mobile will be getting it. Its a shame I don't get any 3G coverage from T-mobile, because i'm very tempted to switch. Especially if Sprint doesn't get any high end phones.

Well since Sprint and LG are buddy buddy, the LG Apollo is due late this year and the specs are really pretty good and should launch with Windows 7.

with almost everything going for this phone, its still lacking wimax and by then wimax will be more broadly available. this phone almost had everything. with hspa+ launching on tmobile and tmobile already having hspa+ devices available, i cant buy another phone thats not 4g, epecially that late in the year.

p-slim, I am wondering.....is sprint going to have a different charge for using 4g even if the phone can get 3g(ev)/4g. Like right now we get 3g with no extra charge if you have a data plan, but lets say I buy a phone with 4g access...now will I be able to get 4g where I can with no extra charge.....I or do we need to have sprint give me the 4g access on the network which would be a charge while using 3g would still be free....do you understand?

Thats a good question, i would imagine that since wimax is still being rolled out, that it would be included in the simply everything plan. although, if they did charge extra for a 4g phone/plan, then maybe only the markets with wimax will be able to buy these phones.

I have no clue if there will be a different price plan but I hightly doubt it. Think of it like this air cards are already out that can do wimax and they are the same monthly price as the evdo rev a aircards.

The reason I had said that is because of the air cards like you stated.

Yea I know what you are saying they have two plans same price but one is only for 3g access and the other is for both 3g/4g.

Which to me make so sense at all since they are the same price you would think the 3g/4g access would be just a tad higher in price. Well it is going to be interesting to see how they handle the price on 3g/4g acesss for phones that can do both, I hope it just stays the same and when the phone is in a 4g area... a person can use the 4g data with no extra charge.

If you look at the plan for the Sprint Overdrive, it's the same as the plan for the 3g only devices.

I've been on sprint for a while.. Started with a Moto Q running WM5... then moved to a touch Pro on WM 6.1... after 9 months with that POS phone I got sprint to give me a TP2 as a replacement (with LOTS of complaining... and driving 2 hours to the nearest "official" sprint store)

anyway.. im on this TP2 now... I've ran the stock rom for a while.. then tried various roms out there until I stuck with good ol mighty rom.. but I gotta say. im geting so SICK of the damn windows Mobile lag! Mighty Mike has done the best he can do with WM 6.5, but its a flawed product.. im hoping they address these problems with WM7, if not, I think "microsoft phone" is done for. (I honestly can't wait for an android 2.1 device... I'd think about selling mt TP2 and getting a samsung Moment.. but I don't want to sign my contract until something awesome comes out)

I see all these new phones come out, but they are ALL for AT&T and Verizon (and SOME for T-Mobile.. but no sprint!)

who cares how awesome your "now network" is if there arn't an good phones to take advantage of it?

man i don't know what you guys are talking about!!! sprint released the lotus elite and the rumor touch this year! isn't that enough?

lol i agree, sprint needs to step up their game if they even want to have a chance at competing against LTE, esp since verizon is going to GSM. if sprint doesn't pull this 4g thing off VERRRY smoothly and soon they stand to lose everything.

I know this quote is dated at this point but wanted to mention this in case anyone else comes across this thread like I did.
1. The article your link points to doesn't really make sense because Tmobile is planning on LTE not WiMax so it wouldn't make sense for there to be a screen shot of the Supersonic on Tmobile and the end of the very article you're referencing mentions the likelihood of photoshop.
2. Tmobile has announced they will be the first to have the HD2 (http://www.sticktogether.com/htchd2/...c_innovate_hd2) which is admittedly the WinMo version of the same phone without 4G, so it might make sense that there are some names/specs getting mixed up
3. Even if Tmobile did get something Supersonic-esc, there is no reason why Sprint can't get an identical/similar phone of a different name, i.e. Sprint Hero and Verizon Droid Eris

Luckily sprint has me in their corner...with that said i feel i should point out that almost all carriers have the same phones. take a look at the hero on sprint the aeris on verizon and the my touch on tmobile...the are all essentially the same phone on the inside. the main difference is the quality of the outside (body panels/button placement/design) the palm pre and pre + pixi and pixi + what is the difference? tp2 is on sprint uscc and tmobile. we are all basically in the same place as far as hardware is concerned. just expect big things from sprint in the near future starting with 4g and never stopping. we are about to take the race. this underdog will sneak up on u and steal the number one spot while all the top dogs are busy talking trash to each other and spending their money making commercials to bash the competition. not only are we the now network we r the future network and the bang for ur buck network!

funny thing is, you mention the other carriers fighting and bashing on each other, notice how no one ever says anything about sprint's phones, networks, services, or plans? Its just funny they're constantly ragging each other and everyone leaves sprint alone

that is exactly my point. they r providing the perfect opportunity for us to fly in under the radar. and if u notice we dont advertise as much just think wat we mite b doing with all that extra money?! probably spending it in ways that benefit our top priority...our customers. enhancing our coverage by building towers, upgrading to 4g and more. just wait u will b pleasantly surprised. and by the time u r stuck in a contract w verizon and looking at a $400 ETF is the day u will wish u never left.

well if we're gonna add random unsubstantiated rumors my sprint rep mentioned to me last week the first 4G phone is supposed to be Windows Mobile which could be some random LG phone but i sure hope not because LG's track record with smart phones is horrendous, i'm hoping its some awesome HTC

But if Sprint really is getting the Supersonic, why bother with the Nexus?
and besides its not just Sprint's decision to carry it, its just as up to Google (and HTC depending on how much theyre involved in distribution which appears to be not at all) and i doubt it but theres a chance Google and Verizon signed something that prevents a Sprint Version

I have seen too many rumored Sprint phones come and go. I would love the supersonic, but don't believe it till I see it. The nexus one has good specs, is coming to Verizon..CDMA, and it is my belief Google would like this phone available on all carriers. While I would prefer the rumored Supersonic, I would take the nexus one in a heartbeat over any other current Sprint offering. I'm just sick of waiting for Sprint to catch up.

they could easily market the nexus as a cheaper alternative to the supersonic but who knows.. so many rumors I will wait till I can touch before I believe anything.
