Wife's 8330 Curve not showing icons

My wife's curve has started messing up, the other day all of the sudden all the icons disappeared and the tabs to the left of the screen are no longer named other than the bottom one, its still labeled "applications". I dont know anything about BB's so I told her to take it to vzw and let them deal with it. They backed up everything to their computer and hard reset the phone and put it all back on there and it worked for a few days but now its done the same thing again. This time they told her that she was out of luck cause we got it from a friend and they wouldnt insure it and they dont know whats wrong with it.

I solved it in case anyone else reads this, I just flashed to the newest version, 4.5.x and its fine now.
