WM6: Mobile Office works on WM5 devices (all)
6 Attachment(s)
That's all I'm saying :p
For those who know where to go Mobile Office from WM6 has been successfully, ahem, ported to WM5 devices and works wonderfully. Download HERE While I'm at it, Windows Live works too (not the search, the IM/email program). Update: For those who UPX their files, it works very well on all 3 executables for Office. Saves a lot of space. Update II: Paul (MVP) at MoDaCo created a freeware app for creating new Docs in WM6 Office. It's attached below. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7/sshot003.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7/sshot004.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...7/sshot005.jpg |
Things that make you go hmmm.
|
now to try and get a copy somewhere to try it out.
Nino |
Ummm...WOW... :D
|
DAMMIT, I just bought Docstogo yesterday, as I needed it for something I had to get done by Sunday. What luck....
Have fun checking your PM's Mal...lol |
does anyone's contact list look all different now? from the homescreen when i click on contacts i have a contact for pretty much every single thing that was in a contact.
anyone elses look like that? Nino |
Not for me, but very cool. :)
And yea Mal, have fun with the PM's. :D |
Do we need to install .Net 2 for the DoNew to work? I'm receiving the error 'this application requires a newer version of .NET Compact Framework that the version installed on this device'
|
Malatesta, could you give us just a little hint?

(figured if they can post WM Roms in the Apache forum...this isn't too different) ifalcon: yeah, sounds like .NET CF 2 is required. It's not a bad install--you can put some of it on the card and it doesn't slow down like the PPC version for some reason. |
I was able to install the download. Thanx malatesta! But was unable to get the cab from modaco to work as far as creating new docs. Any luck with that?
|
Same here
I can't get the new doc program to work either :'( LIL HELP HERE! :-)
|
my guess would be that we are using wm6 for ppc and maybe trying that new doc cab (ppc) will work?
|
Ok...
WM5≠PPC,WM5,WM6=PPC.
Pocket PC (PPC) is a type of handheld (usually running windows). Most people are currently using a PPC with WM5 on it. It's kinda like saying I have a Dell with Vista on it (Hardware Type/OS). But I digress: You're probably correct, there's only a small difference that's keeping it from working on WM5. BTW Welcome to the Forum |
thanx, i hope malatesta can chime in soon.
|
huh, good point!
I just assumed since it installed that it'd work. Will have to post the MoDaCo thread where the developer is to see what's up....will do that later. |
thanx, i will as well. i will also try to copy a blank excel spreadsheet and blank word document and make them both read only. Create a shortcut for each and put them in the office folder in the start menu.
|
good show mal! ill have to try this on my (now my girlfriends) q
|
Mal,
The plugin works fine with the latest version of .NET. It does give me an error each time that I try to create a document but does it anyway. Other than the "Alert" message, it does what it is designed for. |
Re: WM6: Mobile Office works on WM5 devices (all)
nevermind.
|
I just want to make sure I follow before I do something even more foolish than I've done previously with my PPC6700 - this is not ready yet for our WM5 PPC phones?
Thanks |

But, I bet it'd run on the PPC. Compatibility is usually universal towards the PPC, but not the other way (PPC --> smartphone). The worst here is you'd have no touchscreen support. |
Thanks - I decided to give it a try - seems OK although I can't figure out how to change the defaults for excel so it is in edit mode - currently it opens full screen. Other than that, I couldn't tell the difference in the new and the old although the only time I use any of the office products it to open documents stored on my phone or to open e-mail attachments, not to create documents.

Newly registered member here. Excellent work Malatesta. This will save a bundle of $$$ on site licenses for Docstogo if it works well. Hopefully the .net2.0 framework doesn't screw with the other apps we run on our phones. :)

Can somebody post it in a mirror site other than rapidshare?
I am at work behind a firewall, and I can not access rapidshare.
Can someone post it in a mirror site? Another thing, from the screenshot, how can you get the clock on the toolbar. Thanks SAcosta Cingular 3125 |

BTW, look for "Clockontop" here in the Applications section for the clock. |

Touch Screen Support!
|
The rapidshare link says it has been removed, I had downloaded the file earlier but when I tried to install it the bar got about 2/3 across and said "installation failed". I'm hoping it was a bad dl, or maybe a bad transfer to the Q from my pc, but I would like to be able to redownload it. Anyone have a new link?
|
Nuguy,
What device are you running on, so it does work with the touch screen? |

I still can't install it, I get "installation of (2) Office[1].WM6.WCE.BY.cab was unsuccessful." Please help.
|
It works great !
Many thanks! |
Very cool. Not nearly as complete as DocsToGo or Ptab but for the freeness it can't be beat!
