Re: How good is Android on TP2?
Your battery life will be worse in android due to all the programs using resources to sync and the use of GPS on a semi constant basis. There are tweaks to be done on the individual appliction side or you can disable the GPS location in the settings and that will save you some life. Personally, I just leave all this stuff on and keep a charger close by, like in the car and at work. Worth it in my opinion to have the functionality of the apps. You can also back off on the sync times with your email and stuff to save some energy.

Re: How good is Android on TP2?
I've been running less than a week and here is what I've observed.
1. Stability is as good as or better than WinMo. Not that I had WinMo reboot on me it would just slow down after a few days. I don't see that slow down with Android. I don't get reboots after letting everything settle. 2. Marketplace works fine. I've gotten one app that would not work on the TP2 (lacking a compass), but everything else has been fine. 3. Needs polish, a couple examples. a. Was using the Navigator app, got a phone call and all during the phone call the navigator app kept talking in my ear. It should have been muted. b. When the phone call is done, my screen has turned off, so I have to hit the power button to bring it back up, unlock, hit the phone key, then I can hang up. Never had to do 3-4 things just to hang up a phone before. Should have a phone app up when the call is done so I can hang up. 4. Still need WinMo to set somethings up to get them to work, so I don't know how a NAND flash would work. Overall I like it and will continue using it, but I dual boot to have flexibility to go back into WinMo for "full" phone feature support. dave |

Re: How good is Android on TP2?
I am looking for speed & stability in my android. I haven't got it so far. Any suggestions on this front. I remember to have an old build working an year ago but now it says some apps expired whenever I switch it on. Please suggest me the fastest build of tweaks to do the same. Thanks

Re: How good is Android on TP2?
Try this thread for some speed tweaks. I am using a couple of them and havent had any different stability issues. I would agree that the Froyo 7.1 is about as stable as Winmo, and you have the ability to use the Market to get newly developed apps. Wont get that from anywhere in Windows right now for our phones. The onlyproblem I have had is that it may random reboot about once a week. Other than that it is good to go. If you have the .apk to your old programs, just put them in the Android App folder that comes with the bundle and you should be good. Might have to use a Astro or some other file manager to get there to install. Like I said before,I have a couple of programs that just dont work, but I dont know why and I cant really blame on Android. Everything has been working beyond my expectations for at least a couple of weeks.

Re: How good is Android on TP2?
Quick edits haven't worked for me on PPCG in months... If you click "Go Advanced" and then "Save Changes" it works. Quick edits just spin and spin and never save.
As for sakshamkatyal is saying... Our phones aren't made for Android. Consider yourself lucky that it works as well as it does. The developers have worked hard for nearly two years to get it where it is today. The Rhodium is from 2009, but it has processor and RAM specs from 2007 - so I consider myself very fortunate that the damned thing can run Android at all! |

Re: How good is Android on TP2?
For sure - I remember reading when they couldn't get audio to work on it, so, I am very happy about this.
Also, I am now runnig Advanced Task Killer - and that I think will help me keep the battery from dying. Jeremy |
