Re: Mic detection on 3.5mm (rhodw only)
ahh good. I got the 8/09 installing now the other one you posted I can not interface with that file. it decompresses to a file called
htc-msm-linux-20110809_080420-package.tar-1 how do I interact with that file? I renamed my zimage old and added this one renaming to just zimage what do I do with the modules? do I decompress it? leave it alone? rename it? I see an existing modules file. is that a backup or is that "the file" do I erase it and add this one. do I just add this one? do I rename the new one to be the same as the old one? old one modules-2.6.27.46-01340-g2c1d169.tar.gz New one modules-2.6.27.46-01346-g8704c33.tar.gz |
Re: Mic detection on 3.5mm (rhodw only)
Ok I "guessed" that I just needed to copy the modules file intact and it appears to have worked.
OK headset works. Odd behaviour when I press the button from main screen it turns on the android music player and start playing. (ripped the phones out of my ear it was all the way up) :-) pressing again pauses. both sound and mic work in a phone call. I can press the button to answer the call During a call a press "mutes" the call pressing again unmutes. Pressing and HOLDING hangs up the call. I noticed when I was doing this the MUSIC PLAYER icon appears in the status bar. when I "unplugged" the head set this went away but did not return on replugging the headset. it would seem it always "invokes" the music player (but does not "play" the music in the call) might explain why answering the phone via the button takes a bit longer than normal. its answering the call AND invoking the music player app ?? I will try to find a 3.5mm headset tomorrow to try out. The "Square up" device still does not work. (I have no idea why ie mic line or some other incompatibility) it recognizes when I plug the gadget in but keeps saying reswipe quickly. More tommorrow if I get a 3.5mm headset. after using it to make a phone call it NO LONGER WORKS for music. it still invokes the player and plays but the sound comes out of the PHONES earpiece not the headphones. if I unplug the headset it pauses but it DOES NOT route the sound properly now. ie I hit play and I get NO sound speaker or earpiece. if I then replug in the headset it again pauses and on play again NOW it plays out of the ear phones. on unplugging still no sound from the speaker. so it seems once you plug in the headset you can not use the "speaker" to play music any longer. BTW HTC headset sucks. don't get me wrong it sounds great but the "tangle" factor for this stinking think is as strong as a freaking black hole :-) hehe some other issues. when headset is plugged in you get NO RING. period. not through earpiece speaker or headset. the ringer is "silent" at all times. I don't think any other sounds play either (notifications) it DOES pause the music if your playing it and a call comes in. I can answer by pressing the button. it still takes a VERY long time (upwards of 8+ seconds) to actually answer the call. it does NOT return to the music player at end of call it stays at the call log screen. have to press "back" to get to music screen again. I noticed something else. the SECOND time I took a call it answered almost instantly when I pressed the button. same with 3rd and 4th call. SO that would appear to be a memory issue. IE its loading something and once thats loaded its "fast" the next time. You can turn the screen off while play and still get sound in the headset. the phone of course does not go green (I assume this is normal) ALSO another odd thing. when I pug in my "square up" gadget the orange LED "turns off" when I unplug it the LED comes back on. it ALSO does this with the headset sometimes but I have not figured out how to reproduce that. not sure what it means. ALSO now my speaker is working again. not sure if its a procedural thing ie end call end music player then unplug headset. I have found no ryme or reason as to why it did that. it might have been a one off fluke. I will use it more often over the next 24 hours and report back if it does it again and if so I will attempt to reproduce the steps to cause it. |
Re: Mic detection on 3.5mm (rhodw only)
I dug up two nice 3.5mm headsets. one Samsung and one Blackberry
both work fine for sounds but NOTHING on the mics and NOTHING for the buttons. ie I get no sound through the mics and the buttons does nothing at any point in time. am I doing something goofy? I am using the latest build that arghhh posted. |

Re: Mic detection on 3.5mm (rhodw only)
I am. the USB headset did not work and now DOES work on the newest kernel/packages update
the 3.5 does not. audio works (music and calls) but the button does nothing and the mic does not appear to transmit any audio. when I get home just to be sure I will verify the headsets actually WORK (on my other tp2) |
