Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Normally you dial ##3282# and go edit the MMSC URL to http://mm.myboostmobile.com but everytime I dial that it says connection error, so how can I achive that or fix it? Everything else is working great, internet, phone calls and texting...
_ Also how can I install apps? I tried uploading them to my own personal and downloading the url, but that didn't work... Then lastly how can I import my contacts from an xml or txt file? I've been reading about exporting them in outlook to csv and then importing them to a gmail account. |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Errr!!! Well now getting most everything setup and installing the app's I wanted from marketplace after I rebooted the internet stopped working. Halp, before I reflash and start all over again.
Thanks |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
I have no clue what build your running.
I don't know about you, but I usually install apps thru the Market. If you just have apk's, they can be placed in the AndroidApps folder, and they'll get copied to /data/app at runtime. As for MMS, you'll need to set it thru the APN - which there's still some work being done on the RIL and APNs related to CDMA devices. Not sure where that development is at, I haven't looked at that repo in a few days. |
That development is all done. Just waiting on testers and a merge.

Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Yea I added the MMSC Url through Network settings and access points, now I need to figure out if I need to add anything for username, password, mms proxy and mms port... I have no idea what they are, I'm sure I could prolly find out by looking on the WinMo side of things...
I'm running FRX06 Full Bundle 25.3.2011, everything works perfectly... All I need to do is fix/edit the mms settings. |

If someone knows the values, perhaps they'll jump in. If you can find them in WinMo, or just from searching, that should be all you need. |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Okay cool... All I'm mainly concerned on now before doing anything else is successfully importing ALL my contacts...
Tried GMail, it didn't sync them all, tried AS Contacts Sync it didn't work (Maybe cause it's the wrong input field compared to windows mobile text contact field inputs), tried MeContacts and XML it fails and has to FC... Grrrr!!! Even tried ON Contacts it worked but also didn't display all my contacts. Offline Contacts Sync says it imported all of them, but then I don't see them in the phone. >_< |

Unless you have thousands of contacts, it should work just fine. I don't have a ton by any means, but they always get fully sync'd. I use GMail sync in WinMo too, and the contacts sync between OSes flawlessly (when I used WinMo more, anymore now it's just to boot Android :p) |
Gmail will sync all contacts, but by default the Android Contacts app only displays the ones in your My Contacts category. You can change this in the Contacts / Settings / Display Options.

Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Yea I've done all that and it always says: "There was an error with GMail... Please try again shortly GMail will be back" or something along those lines, on wifi and phones own data connection.
The other thing I hate, is ON has syncronized most of the contacts, but when I try to call one of my contacts with ContApps it's says something about no infomation, but when I view contact details the contacts numbers are there and everything... So I have to dial the full number in order to make a call, if it shows up when I start to dial the number and I click on that contact then it gives me that error. LoL Since I've been having so much trouble I'd love to or rather just figure out the correct/specific text input data fields and redo all my contacts and try importing them again through AS Contacts Sync and see if that works... I've even tried the builtin vcf contact importer and it imports them all the spoof they are no where to be seen. haha |

Start fresh, that would be my first tip. Don't use third party apps to sync your contacts, that would be my second. Just use the sync that's built into Android, and make sure all your contacts are in the My Contacts section - or do what highlandsun suggested above. |

I think we went over this, but you're going to Settings -> Accounts & Sync right? You should see your GMail account under "Manage Accounts". If you click on it, you should see some check-boxes as to what can be synced, obviously "Contacts" should be checked if you want to sync your contacts. |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Well we both know that isn't working for me. LoL
Sure it sync's them through GMail, but for some reason it doesn't sync or sync them correctly. |

So you say it sync's *some* of your contacts? If it's syncing some, then I'd say you've done the Android part right. Make sure your GMail is configured correctly, and all the contacts you care about are in My Contacts. I'm not sure if there's some mystery field screwing them up, so maybe compare a contact that does sync and one that doesn't - see what the difference is. All of my contacts sync no issue, but I don't think I have anything 'unusual' in my contact fields... Perhaps something came over from your contact export? Gotta break this down dude, triage! |

Not sure how to help you, it works flawlessly for every other person - hence the reason that there aren't 500 threads on this issue. You're the only one to my knowledge that has issues, so you must be doing something different. Evidently you went with yet another 3rd party contact app, so I really can't help you if that's the route you're going to take. |

Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
I found and fixed the problem myself... It was starring me in the face all along, blankly!!!
At the very top upper half nothing is filled in for phone numbers and what not... It's all filled out below in different fields: http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/9007/contacts.jpg I tediously went through all the contacts already in GMail "My Contacts" Group, and copied and paste all the phone number in that lightly greyed out area... Then I exported the "My Contacts" Group to a vCard (.vcf) and went into Contacts on Android then clicked menu (Windows Flag Key) then clicked Import From SD and it cured it and was a lot faster than syncing through GMail... |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Ever figure out how to get Pic messaging to work on a TP2 on android and boost? Im a noob so any help would be appreciated!:toothy7:
Oh and i cant get my contacts to sync right either.. When i installed android and setup my gmail acct... Only the contact NAMES were sync'd no phone numbers or email addys or anything.. I've tried everything.. (install from csv file on SD card, Tried from SIM card, etc... even managed to mess something up on the winmo side, forcing a hard reset.. but still no luck.. I just found a Yahoo! droid App that is supposed to sync contacts.. so I transferred all my gmail info to my Y! acct.. We'll see if it works! |

If yahoo doesn't work ya might have to do it manually like I did. Someone over at tiad8's forums mentioned SPB Migration, by the time they mentioned it I was already finished so it was too late for me to try. |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Yeah i ended up doing the copy paste thing too. Yahoo didnt work.. Still trying to figure out mms on boost on android.. but like i said, Im a total noob. so i dont wanna mess with too much! Just having a fairly stable/functional version of android on my phone is pretty sweet.. I have had winmo for around 7 yrs.. didnt think i'd like android, but other than the ads, its pretty sweet so far! (although i have a bunch of pic/vids on my sd card and the android gallery kinda sux to view them)

Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
Yea or study the windows mobile side then go into android network settings and enter what ya see missing there, you see I already posted the MMSC Url, in the very first post in this thread...
I've also thought that maybe just cause it doesn't work on the default android mms that it doesn't mean it wouldn't or might not work in something like Handcent or Go SMS Pro. -edit- http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...-Pic-Messaging Or if you've created a successful thread with useful info please post it. Thanks |

Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
hey I am wondering does anyone know how to reset the text messaging of my tp2 because everytime I get a message, it comes up as 2 of them. The only way I can get rid of it is by saving my messages in a folder and I should not have to do that. Does anyone have a solution?
|
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!

At any rate, you mean in Android? Do you use Google Voice...? That's the only reason I could imagine you'd get 2 messages - Google Voice alerts you of one, and the Messaging app alerts you of the same message... Also, what do you mean by saving messages in a folder...? I'm not aware of the default Messaging app in Android having this ability... |
Re: Boost Mobile Pic Messaging... Plus More!
No not on my XD Andrid side. That is fine. Its on the WinMo side. And what I mean by folder, I mean when I go to the sms/mms folder down to the folder I created called 'saved messages'. Thats what I was talkin about. Its so strange how when I get a message it does that. Is there a way to refresh it or somethin?

You won't get WinMo help here, that's my point. You even assumed that everyone else should in turn assume that you mean WinMo when you're in the Android dev section... wth? |
