Hopefully when AOSP is made available, it'll only take a few tweaks to get us up to speed... Assuming there isn't some huge limitation, which I can't imagine there would be but I do hear they changed a lot on the backend of things... Which may or may not help. |

Re: 2.3 GingerBread
you guys make me laugh i am not trying to make them work faster i am wanting to know from a dev a relistic time frame for getting 2.3 if its going to be 6 months then so be it now i am also guessing that it will be a month mabey 2 before the devs have a idea of any kind on how long it will take

Re: 2.3 GingerBread
First ask Google when they'll release the 2.3 source code. Until then, no work can be done
I don't know why you think it would take 2 months before the devs have any idea of how long it will take. The XDAndroid folks had a 2.2 port running within a week of the source code's release |
Re: 2.3 GingerBread
right! as of now, 2.3 is an SDK only... Im actually downloading all of it now, along with 2.2... but thats just for development, not porting..

Re: 2.3 GingerBread
Aren't you the same person that asked about Froyo on the TP2 a few months back??? I think the answer I gave you then still stands when it comes to Gingerbread. Except this time I can't help but to "share" some insight with you.
1. Please don't post asking for something that you're not putting any hours into yourself to help get it going. 2. Research! Google has worked wonders for me and 1000's of people that I know, I'm sure it can do the same for you. 3. Please! And I say it once again, Please put a little thought into posting before someone roasts you bro. I'm not picking on you or anything but silly sh*t like this gets people running for their flamethrowers. Although my TP2 died on me and I had to pick up a cheap Pre to replace it, I still come here to check on the progress every other day. This is a very informative forum, so don't ruin it with posts like this. Thank you |
Re: 2.3 GingerBread
I think you guys might be, being too hard on him. I think he was just curious how long and didn't want someone who is just wildly guessing to come along and say "a few months" which doesn't tell him much of anything. I see no harm in asking how long even if he is not a developer. I don't think he was making demands on developers he was asking someone that is well informed to reply (albeit poorly :) ).
I think he got his answer. |
Re: 2.3 GingerBread
Well, the good news is that someone dumped the Nexus S already. Gingerbread is here: [REF] Complete /system, kernel and initramfs dumps - xda-developers
