Realistic expectations management for Android on Touch Pro 2?

I was wondering if any developers (i.e. people like phh or ACL or Wozz with actual experience and insight into the progress of the project and the morale of fellow developers) can provide a realistic assessment of how far this project is going to go before some day the last developer drops out and all is said and done? Also, what sort of timeframe would you guess?

Obviously, I'm not asking for anyone to read the future, just for their own gut feelings on the matter.

We can set the gold standard to be the HTC Touch. Obviously, with some things like the button layout, no one would ever confuse it with a device that shipped with Android natively, and it has an outdated CPU compared to modern Android superphones. However, it reached the culmination of the Android porting project, in that pretty much everything that could be made to work was made to work.

Back in the day i prob would not have answered, but since we have had a lot of progress lately i say its safe to say that it all depends on you.

What do you consider done ?

MMS is probably on the bottom of the list. i mean real bottom. I think the devs will start making little leather cases by hand with penguins on them before mms gets fixed. Or unless that bounty gets big enough for someone to drop what they are doing and just figure it out.

batt life is done my good man. wait until the next big commit from wistilt. It has auto dimming plus full panel off to save some good batt life.

Do you think it'll ever reach a level comparable to the Touch? All hardware working, basically behaves like a really slow Android device with weird buttons.

I can do without the MMS, BT and camera. Once all the sound issues have been worked out (speakers, microphone and headset), I would start using Android full time!

I have to say though, that what has been achieved till now is absolutely incredible! It speaks to the creativity, skill and generosity of the folks in this forum that we already have so much working.

And it makes you wonder why companies with multi-million dollar budgets have such problems with making decent software!

Touch is the Vogue right ? Ever ? as in we have eternity to finish it ? i dunno i say a year if we keep at the current pace. Dev for the vogue started years before tp2 so i say we are doing pretty good :-p

Also you never know when devs will just drop off. We lost some good guys early this year. Mrpippy, cr2 , captnoord and recently wozzer. hard to say dood.

Hey acl do you know when the commit will happen? Is it when phh looks at it or did he already do that?
