Realistic expectations management for Android on Touch Pro 2?
I was wondering if any developers (i.e. people like phh or ACL or Wozz with actual experience and insight into the progress of the project and the morale of fellow developers) can provide a realistic assessment of how far this project is going to go before some day the last developer drops out and all is said and done? Also, what sort of timeframe would you guess?
Obviously, I'm not asking for anyone to read the future, just for their own gut feelings on the matter. We can set the gold standard to be the HTC Touch. Obviously, with some things like the button layout, no one would ever confuse it with a device that shipped with Android natively, and it has an outdated CPU compared to modern Android superphones. However, it reached the culmination of the Android porting project, in that pretty much everything that could be made to work was made to work. |

I can do without the MMS, BT and camera. Once all the sound issues have been worked out (speakers, microphone and headset), I would start using Android full time!
I have to say though, that what has been achieved till now is absolutely incredible! It speaks to the creativity, skill and generosity of the folks in this forum that we already have so much working. And it makes you wonder why companies with multi-million dollar budgets have such problems with making decent software! |
