09/15 New Kernel fixes in-call volume and speakerphone

FYI, there's a new kernel out that enables speaker phone and in-call volume.

As always, just replace your zImage with the one in the archive, and then delete your old module and put in the new one.

This works, wow! It appears to use the same MIC as the one you use when not on speakerphone, but still works well. Very cool!

You guys aren't getting any of these problems?

Rhod100: Sound is fine, battery information is accurate, USB (debuggin) seems to work!
Rhod210: No incoming call mic sound
RAPH100: sound fix works but I can confirm it breaks incoming call mic -- other party cannot hear anything (fixed phone type)
blackstone: no incoming sound, mic no sound
BLAC: it has still that black-screen-of-death issue..
RHOD400 (Sprint): seems good!
TOPA100: does not work the microphone during a call unless you press the volume button

I'm on RHOD500 and the only problem that I have had once is while I was in a call with full signal strength: my radio showed an x and the phone symbol stayed on in the top bar and I temporarily got disconnected. I'm not sure if this was carrier related or somthing with the update. Just wanted to let others know, but it might not really be an issue with the update though.

Did you try it?

Not yet, that's why I asked. On the other site it's mostly negative feedback, here it's all positive.

Everything works fine here.

Haha, guess maybe they broke a bunch of stuff helping us Rhod users.

why do we need the module change to? to get sound from no sound all you needed to do was the zImage change, no module change needed.. why do we need it here?

Perhaps you're not aware... EVERY zImage update should also update your modules. They go together... which is why they're usually compressed together in the same file ;)

I just saw that today. Anyone here have rhods who can confirm those errors?

If you do please test it out and let me know. We are moving so fast on the Rhod that we forget the kernel changes we make can break other devices. So far no one reported this on the irc chat, so this is the first time im hearing about it.

Referring to this

Not the same on my RHOD400. In-call mic worked just fine, but when the speakerphone was turned on the mic didn't work whatsoever. This is status-quo tho... There's that make a call in WinMo first workaround tho.

In reference to these

blackstone: no incoming sound, mic no sound
Incoming call mic was just fine for me - again, w/o speakerphone. All sound out of the speakers were just fine tho.

You're right, I didn't play with this enough. The speakerphone plays the sound from the other person, but the microphone doesn't seem to be making it to the other person.

Instead, the microphone is doing something funny, where it's picking up the sound and only playing it back on the same side. So you can hear yourself talk, but the other side doesn't hear anything. The weirder part is that the microphone immediately picks up everything that the speaker is playing, so you get all sorts of weird echoes.

you get weird echos from having your other device to close while your testing it out LOL...

i changed the files, me and my GF tested it, nothing is coming through on her end though... i almost never use speakerphone so its a non issue for me, but i tried it out... BUST!, over here!
