Next for Android on TP2

I was just curious what is going to be next for android on TP2. When will there be a new build. Will it be faster and more responsive and what will be fixed next. If anybody has any info or if a DEV will post that would be lovely.

Any information would be appreciated because I am sure everybody is wondering and would love to know. Thanks ahead of time:mrgreen:

3D Hardware acceleration.

If I remember correctly, this was working on the TP1, and getting it working on the TP2 would eradicate most speed issues folks have. I've been running Android on my TP2 for a couple of weeks almost primarily, and have very few issues with speed.

I think having to switch back and forth b/t OS defeats the purpose. Camera and BT should be fixed first. Then work on power then speed. I can charge in my car or at work. Missing things w/ the camera sucks though....

i agree...bt is not all that important to me...but i use the camera every day (i am a landscaper) so that is the one issue preventing me from staying booted in anddroid all day. lack of power management is not as important to me since i have gotten so use to carrying extra batteries every day anyway since my winmo battery life is not that great anyway. i have to take a lot of before and after pics of jobs for clients and have more nneed for an operational camera than anything else.

I voted, but to be honest I don't really care what exactly is working next... it's all good. I just hope they get everything working before I move on to my next phone... I've been through Android on the Kaiser, Raphael, and now Rhodium. My next phone may just be an actual Android phone. :D

i just cant wait for this thing to be all the way up and running! i hope they fix the battery levels soon ..im running it with a few kinks i m trying to iron out..primarily the loosing service after a reboot..but other than this runs great..havnt had to many speed issues i mean compared to winmo..great work devs at any rate..would much rather have a cdma andriod on boost than winmo 6.5 on boost...

scratch that fixed the issue with the service had to edit the startup.txt or the default.txt which ever one this thing uses now lol..

Does anybody notice your speaker making weird noises since the sound was fixed? Seems like it clicks, screeches, etc...quietly, but I notice it but it does not do when running WinMo...

Importance factor personally would be:

Camera
Battery
Power/Speed
Headphone jack (supporting the pandora idea)

Turns out the haret versions is slightly behind the nand version. I was going to patch the kernel last night but git was down. Hopefully those fixes resolve some of your sound issues.

Get the speaker phone to work not able to useTikl-touch app or voice search or voice dialer. (unless it has already been fixed.):rr:

Uhh, maybe work on getting the thing stable first then getting the battery to work properly.

Sound was required, now stability is needed, finally battery.

Then they can mess with the rest.

Still not quite ready for everyday use, but oooooh so tantilizingly close...

Everyone's needs are different, so for me camera and fixing power issues are the most important.

You can trick it with that force command in your startup.txt...

I am surprised that BT is not higher of a requirement. Its the only thing stopping me from going full time over to andriod. I sync it with my car stereo but i would have thought all the people with the stupid ear piece would be bitching lol

I think you misunderstand the Android dev. I don't think the Devs work under and "requirements". They work on what they want to work on.
And I doubt this thread really has much of an influence on anything. It's just a poll thing. Just to see what people would like to see next. I think we are kidding ourselves if we think this thread is setting any requirements for the Developers... lol

Agreed, but I'm assuming everyone needs their device to be powered on? With MightyROM, I can actually forget to plug in my phone and be fine for the entire next day. Same phone in Android and I'm lucky to make it through a work day and if I forget about it, I have a dead phone in my pocket. Kind of fundamental, you know?

So help out! It's not exactly like flipping a switch that just magically optimizes the power management... I'm sure it'll get better, but somehow I doubt it'll ever be exactly on-par with WinMo... unless you expect miracles, which it seems like you do.

While I agree with the sentiment of your post (EVERYONE should try to help out), I'm not sure that you're right about power management. Battery life on my Sprint Touch is as good in Android as it ever was in Windows--and I'm overclocking to boot. All it takes is a few dedicated devs. Which, it seems, the TP2 finally has.

Really? That's interesting, because my battery life is WAY worse in Android...

Unless I let the phone sleep... but even then, the sleep time I get in Android is about half of what I would get in WinMo. In WinMo, I could let the phone sit for 2-3 days without charging it, assuming I don't actually use the phone. Android, I think my best run was 10hrs, and that was again with 0 usage from me.

I still had push setup in both systems, plus WinMo would also update my weather stats...

Yea, and you were whining about battery life not being exactly the same as it is in WinMo. If you were paying a full team of developers to only do this, then you may have some right to complain. But as I see it, you don't have any right to complain whatsoever.

This thread is really just for our self amusement. We are delusional if we think this thread really has any importance or any influence on the Android development. Just relax and enjoy the discussion.

Thank you. The thread is called "What would you like fixed the most?" not "What would you demand to be fixed?" Some thin skins around here for sure.

Yea as I recall it does break the speakerphone, but I think it does work for me... lemme test it again. Do you have the newest zImage?

It's funny how these threads always pop up shortly after a major update to Android is released. They are fun to read but it's even more amusing to see how vehemently people will argue over what is more important when most if not all who contribute to this thread really have no impact or influence on the actual development. I guess in a way, it helps people feel like they are somehow involved and contributing...

Funny how this seems like the biggest whine in the entire thread.. whining about a person who really wasn't whining.. just stating fact. EVERYONE has the right to complain. It's a forum where people can come and express these things. He wasn't attacking the devs at all.. so why getting your panties in a wad?
