I've found a few programs by other people that claim to work, but I'd like to stick with an "official" Google app, if there is one.
Just export your outlook contacts to a .csv and then import them into your gmail.

Granted, that will transfer them, but it won't transfer the contact pictures, and it's a one time deal. I want to keep Outlook and Gmail and contact pictures in sync with each other, so that a change in one will be reflected in the other, like WMDC/ActiveSync do now between Outlook and WM.

How are you using Google sync? Did you set it up to exchange through "active sync", if you did then it should sync the pictures as well.
If you need directions on how to do that, just post here and I will reply.

If I have helped please click thanks

I haven't tried Google Sync yet, because I haven't seen where it will do what I want. I want to be able to continually sync my PC's Outlook Calendar and Contacts (and pictures) with Gmail on Google. So far I have found Google Calendar Sync for the PC (but it doesn't do contacts, that I can tell): http://www.google.com/sync/pc.html

Once that is working, then I will use these mobile Google Sync tools to keep the calendar and contacts on my phone in sync with Gmail on Google: http://www.google.com/sync/windowsmobile.html and http://www.google.com/sync/android.html

I assume it is these mobile Google Sync apps that you are saying will sync contact pictures, correct?

I would also like to know how to use google sync, all the information pages I find seem to just be place holders with no download links or even simple instructions on how to get started. The site I keep hoping to get information from is http://www.google.com/sync/android.html but it leads me nowhere useful.

Re: Transfer Contacts from WM to Android?

so how I transfered my WM contacts to gmail. I do not have/want outlook so I used this method.

get pimbackup
backup just your contacts DO NOT use the binary option
the backed up file name will be .pib change that to .zip and unzip it

you will find a contacts.csv

I recommend editing this file of anything in the NOTES section. You only want the display name in there. Using this method your pics will NOT xfer

now log into your gmail account.

click on your contacts.
click on the more options and then import.
import your .csv file into gmail

your done. I know it is a long way around to do it but it does work and it is relatively simple, easy, and fast
