MMS Bounty for CDMA Android Port **Currently: $30**

As the title Says...I'll start it off. Sound is great, but when people send me an MMS while I'm running Android, I will never know that anything was ever sent. Even when I go back to Windows mobile it still won't show up. So I'm assuming that Android marks the MMS as read, but we never receive it on CDMA.

So here goes....

1999TL: $10 from me
Kaos: $10
lioncat55: $10

My guess is the auto registration for MMS service isn't being added in the APN settings.

Im down for $10 if done before Oct 1st .... @ 1999TL YOu can always check the sprint picture website for any MMS you have missed on your PC... I have also found out my TP2 tends to mess up mms if you are sending a text at the same time..

FWIW, I receive MMS messages that were sent when I'm in Android once I boot back to WM.

I am down for $10 as well. This is the only thing keeping me from using Android as my OS 100% of the time.

so whats the bounty up to now ? still $30? gonna take more than that to convince one of the devs to actually attack the issue.

Looks like it's up to $50:

1999TL: $10
Kaos: $10
lioncat55: $10
oppman: $10
yoshi911: $10

I have never sent nor received an MMS that I know of :P

I wonder if it's just in the APN settings that things need to be fixed. I'll look into those, though I don't know if I'll figure anything out then.

A lot of people on XDA have reported that MMS works fine for them. Just have to enter in your provider's settings or something.

If that is the case, how do I do that to test it out?

Yes, please send along the Verizon settings. I'd love to be able to receive SMS messages.

Found this on XDA... testing it now

step 2: go into your apn settings
menu -> settings -> wireless & network settings -> Mobile Networks -> APN's

step 3: you should see an apn listed called android, click on it to edit the APN

step 4: change its settings so they match this

settings: APN
Name: internet
APN: Android
Proxy:<Not set>
Port:<Not set>
Username:<Not set>
Password:<Not set>
Server:<Not set>
MMSC:http://63.215.195.152/servlets/mms?X-SPRINT-MDN=(10 digit phone number)
MMS proxy:<Not set>
MMS Port: 80
MMC:310
MNC:995
Authentication Type:<Not set>
APN type:<Not set>

step 5: hit menu and choose save the apn

step 6: reboot

I am all for this to be fixed... but why work on MMS when you don't have a functional camera to send new pics?

Seems kinda backward to me.

I was more concerned about receiving MMS. Ppl would send me MMS and I'd never receive em.

Same here. I did what they had posted and it did enable me to send pictures, but that is it. I really need to be able to receive them, that is my main concern, sorry I did not state that more clearly before. I do appreciate the help and improvement though, don't get me wrong.

Can anyone post the contents of /system/app and post them here? I just got a Fascinate and there is an MMS.apk which I'm thinking has the MMS settings in it, so maybe we just need to get that file for MMS to start working for the various carriers.

Maybe a Sprint user that has an Android phone can get the apk and post it as I'm guessing they're different for all carriers. Would a Verizon user be able to extract the attached zip and put both files in /system/app (overwrite the current MMS.apk file) and see if you can send/receive messages?

I'm trying to get the mms.apk's from Flyers and Darklord, both are on Sprint, DL has an Evo and flyers has the Epic. What other files would you need them to get off their phones?

Re: MMS Bounty for CDMA Android Port **Currently: $30**

It would just be the MMS.apk and mms.odex if it's there. I looked at the xml in the apk on my Fascinate and what I could understand of the xml files, it looks like it has all the settings in it that are in the WM registry. I couldn't see everything though as it's a binary xml file and I can't get it to be plain text.

tried them both.. EVOs says Parser Error- its for 2.2 and i only have 2.1

and Epic's actually tries to install, but ends with app not installed...

im also working/looking into the APN settings as well too....

The Epic's would be the one I would think may work if you're on 2.1 since that's on Eclair as well. Can you copy or move the files to /system/app and then restart android to see if it works?

I'm not sure where you're talking about dropping the files.

Re: MMS Bounty for CDMA Android Port **Currently: $30**

In Astro (or another file manager) go to "/", which is the root of the device. Just keep going up one directory until it doesn't let you go up anymore. From there, go to the /system folder, and inside that directory is app, so it should be /system/app as the current directory, and that is where the files go.

Re: MMS Bounty for CDMA Android Port **Currently: $30**

Well that didn't work... completely borked my texts now too, can't even load up a shortcut for texting. Can anyone on Sprint pull off the "stock" mms file from /system/app and post it up here? I'm trying to not have to rebuild my entire set up, lmao

boredandtattooed 10-26-2010 08:36 AM

Re: MMS Bounty for CDMA Android Port **Currently: $30**

you cant copy/paste between the root side and the sd card side... atleast not on my build... i can copy/paste root>sd card but not sd card>root... it just wont let me.. and thats using Astro, O/I file manager, and just reg file manager..

1) you need to remount root as rw, second most permissions require uid=0 (root) to be able to write.
