yeah but we already have a sense ui build .. should work with 3d since all the changes are in the kernel and rootfs.

I tried flashing but no boot up for me... maybe i am doing something wrong... anyone want to create a detailed install guide?

another question... will booting from nand help performance as more memory is free from using a windows rom and using android? Thanks want to know if it is worth testing out in regards to speed.

This is really more for testing and getting it ready to flash directly to NAND. In its current state, this project only uses the NAND for booting. All of the files are still stored on the SD card.

Once it is ready to flash directly to NAND, there will be some obvious performance benefits.

Will there be?
I was under the impression that SD was actually faster then NAND (at least, thats what I was told by some devs) (some benchmarks pointed that out). Was that information not true, or are there more factors then pure read/write speed (like latency/overhead etc?)

Generally speaking, NAND is fairly slow at writing, but read speeds aren't that bad. There will be a small performance penalty for running off the SD card, but I guess if you have a fast enough SD card, then you might see better performance. Another downside to running off the SD card will be lower battery life since the SD interface is always running.

I've not seen any benchmarks of running things on the NAND vs SD card, but it all depends on the the flash memory that is used and how it was implemented.

Yea we won't really know until we go full NAND, but in theory it should be faster - as you stated, it won't be dependent on the SD card for OS access.

natemcnutty : i enabled 3d on nand. You can sync and build a new kernel.

Not sure if there will be any performance benefits to the haret version but im interested to see if you guys notice anything.

You may need to modify your tinboot code so hw3d.force=0 is no longer used. Just erase it or set it to 1. At some point we will do away with the 3d checking in general.

hmm i just commited the kernel. 3d was not working before this update. It was posted earlier on the haret release, but nand had more steps to get it working.
