Android + TP 2 = Dead Micro SD Cards?

I loving running android however sometimes when in android the phone becomes unresponsive and I have to soft reset it. After trying to re-boot android I find out that my micro sd has become corrupt. I have tried reformatting it with no luck. So I moved on to a 2nd card... Same issue - android froze, hard reset, card corrupt. I've now bricked 3 SD cards. I'm assuming because data is being read from it and I'm interrupting the read/write process? I'm hesitant to run Froyo anymore. I've tried reformatting the sd cards using 5 different programs varying from windows to mac and no luck.

Any advice to save me from ruining anymore micro sd cards? This happens in all builds of android.

Thanks in advance.

Can you explain how the hard reset is performed on android?
I have been running every version of android and never had an issue other than the startup.exe issue that we all know how to fix.

As android is unresponsive (screen is usually black - not coming out of standby or just froze after making a call for example) I remove the battery cover and press the soft reset button with the stylus or remove the battery to turn off the power.

Can I ask which version of droid are you using?

Also are you using a cab or rar file?

this has happened to me too, this week as a matter of fact. To fix it i could only reformat it with my computer with a sd card adapter. It still took 2 tries to get it done though. The files are also turned into read-only files after they have turned corrupt.

Thanks for the correction - I edited my earlier posts.

This has happened using both the CAB and ZIP file using android builds dated (approximate) 3/17 - 7/15. I haven't had a working SD card to test the latest version. Reflecting on the issue I believe I killed the power by removing the battery most of the time and that might have had some influence on corrupting it. I'm assuming a soft reset is better for the phone than removing the battery?

i had this same issue about a month ago...same scenario...xdandroid froze up...sod...reset the phone...sd card was unreadable. i was able to reformat the card using my laptop and card adapter.

Much better! I've never had SD card problems. What brand card are you using?
