Re: Overclocking TP2 in Android

Think the numbers may be bogus, i got the overclocked tp2 to boot, but when i run "CPU Benchmark" it shows me as having a CPU running at 550, but the startup.txt shows 700.

Anyone else notice this?

EDIT: Looks like you can change the CPU value, but the results are very inconsistent. What's the best benchmark app for the Android?

You could check out the benchmark thread where I just posted a comparison between 700MHz and 825MHz.
You could also check out the app called "Android System Info" and go to the "System" tab and expand the "CPU" tree and the second line shows effective clock speed in Android. It is labeled "BogoMIPS".

While set to 700000Khz it shows something around 690
While set to 825000Khz it shows 805

It's calculated in binary. You have to multiply by the megahertz by 1024 to get the correct kilohertz.

So if you want exactly 700mhz, 700x1024 = 716,800khz.

Hey noobs. IT's in multiples of 19.2 MHz. :)

noob question alert:

Is it possible to be running winmo while overclocked with android running minimized in background???
Effectively using the OS like an app to boost speed in winmo.
OR is overclock limited to android OS?

Re: Overclocking TP2 in Android

Nope. It's only possible to run Android or Windows Mobile at a time. When you boot to Android, it actually shuts down Windows Mobile, so you can't run them side-by-side.

Just FYI, I believe no2chem released the source code to his overclocking app for Windows Mobile, but he only had 768MHz unlocked. I bet with some minor modifications, that could be turned into something usable in WinMo. ;)

http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/pos...00MHz-yet.aspx Some info about no2chem's overclocking app.

I'm using the 3/28/10 build from MACKIE with a class 2 16GB Sandisk card.

EDIT: 760 works too. Maybe increments of 10 work better than other numbers. Doing more tests.

EDIT2: 770 worked as well. Getting the feeling that 10 MHz increments are key here.

also try to include build date of the device itself

Thanks, now I remember from the no2chem overclocking tp days. The odd thing is that android won't boot to my phone correctly with anything over 825 even when I try 825.600 which is a multiple of 19.2. Maybe android automatically fixes the clock speed to the nearest mulitple or something but I dont know. Whatever the case I am just happy that we can even boot android let alone overclock. I just cant wait for a nearly 100% functioning stable release since it seems like theres nothing new I can get from sprint, keep up the good work everyone!

I visited No2Chem's site and it seems like the overclocking of the TP2 (WM version) is not yet possible. Is there any way of overclocking the TP2????
