the first (assurion replacement) that i received did not have a SIM card....but the store replacement was a complete phone and it did come with one...it is, apparently, so if you travel outside the US to a GSM country...it will allow Roaming so you will change to GSM mode and you will get your US calls there....but at 1.99 a minute!!!

No need for it in the US...it is just good to keep ..just in case you travel overseas!!!

JP

It didn't work for me, try to make sure you not connecting using wifi because it could easily slip by! and make it sim you able to use the sim card

Try a different SD card.

And apparently so did you.

The next big breakthrough that will cause a massive interest again like proper data did will certainly be sound. I'm sure once charging is fixed there will be a little bit of a surge of people but sound seems to be the #1 thing I hear about holding people back. I wasn't sure if I could do without sound but since I spend most of the day at work with it on silent/vibrate anyways it wasnt too big of a deal. With light texting while at work I get about 12 to 13 hours on a battery charge.

But I still would love to have sound.

I've played with a couple of previous builds...and I love what's happening here. But I think I'm gonna wait until they get the sound working. That's what's really killing me. Hopefully it'll e soon because I'm jumping ship to the EVO as soon as it hits the streets.

He is referring to doing this through Windows Mobile. I haven't confirmed or denied this working. I don't need my SIM so I leave it out, less worry then. Not sure if the Windows Mobile settings follow into Android on this instance. But if you go into settings in Windows Mobile and select Personal and then Phone there is a Network tab and you can change the Mode of operation to CDMA only. Good luck, would be interesting if it does for sure work. But again, if you don't have a need for a SIM card, why have it in there? But let me know and I will add it to the FAQ.

Thanks Cflynt couldnt get back fast enough to respond with clarification i dont have a need for the sim card but i like keeping everything together i have a habit of losing things. yes i did in Winmo settings and no i wasnt using wifi i was in a car on i-95n ... no i wasnt the one driving lol

After installing Android on my HTC Touch (Vogue) that was collecting dust in my drawer, I have decided to use it as my primary phone for now. Everything works great.

The one thing I have noticed was that GPS is a very important piece of Android as there are lots of apps that take full advantage of it. I thought I would be happy to run Android on my TP2 minus the GPS feature, but I think I would need to wait until that gets worked out as well.

Good thing I didn't sell my Touch!

I don't know if anyone read my post about the gps in the gsm version... It worked on my cdma phone. Being that I couldn't connect to any net work it has to be the only way it could get my location.

We've read your post but since you only stated it didn't really help can you please post a step-step guide of what you did so we can all try and see if we can vouch for you

Ok guys, uploaded a new package to use. This includes a new zImage and modules released today. The word on the street is your TP2 will now sleep better(improved battery life) and also will seem a little quicker. If your already using my prebuilt packages, use the modules file and zImage and move them to your SD card, deleting your current zImage and modules file is recommended. If not, simply download this and extract all to a folder then copy all to the ROOT of your storage card.

Enjoy!!

Sorry Mackie, you asked and I told ya but didn't realize you meant the autobuilt kernel heh. Heh sorry to burst your bubble heh, the sleep fixes aren't autobuilt yet, they are committed and pushed but the autobuild doesn't update after a certain time I guess so they won't be out till the morning. If you want the kernel, let me know I will go ahead and post it for ya, but otherwise just grab it in the morning. I have been running it for awhile and phone definitely sleeps better now. And is a little snappier.

Edit: Went ahead and uploaded for those that don't wanna wait. No doubt it will be on autobuild tomorrow morning. Enjoy!
