Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
|
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Good news. I'll see how the android on TP2 is before I think about switching plans to get the supersonic or nexus one.
|
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Holy sh&t that's great news. I'm not interested in buying an Android phone right away, but more competition = better than.
|
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
I wonder if this will be compatable with the Sprint SERO plans because you have to purchase this seperately.

But... and this I'd bet big money on, it will NOT be available on SERO. The reason is simple, and it's the one Sprint has been giving for all the phones that aren't available on SERO... it's too data intensive. sure, it's lame, I agree. It's not fair as SERO is suppose to have unlimited data plans... we all know that. But it's Sprints rules, it's their ball, you have to pay to play (with the better phones), sadly. Regards, |

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
The Nexus One is only available from Google on the T-mobile, ATT, and Verizon. I doubt it would be available from Sprint at a subsidized price.
My reasoning for it possibly working is that it won't be subsidized so that's why it might work on the SERO plan. If anything my TP2 has heavy data usage. Don't think that will change with going to an Android device lol |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
It's seems as if the Nexus One is hopefully going to starting picking up users here. AT&T announced they were getting the Nexus One and now that Sprint is getting it means people have more options, as well as a CDMA version.
The problem with the Nexus One is I think most people don't fully understand what they are truly buying unless they are somewhat tech savvy. When someone hears "iPhone" they think of Apps and the software. Android, well other than the key words "Google Phone" I don't think the Nexus One really strikes a cord with people. They may be able to understand that it is faster than most of the other phones out there on the market right now but I'll honestly say that my TP2 and others like the iPhone 3GS's have enough processing power to suffice the common smart phone user. I'd take a guess and say everyone is just seeing the Nexus One as something that's bigger, better, faster, stronger! You know, the common mentality that newer is better and they aren't recognizing that the Nexus One is a big leap forward in mobile computing technology. That 1GHz snapdragon is a beast of a processor and wipes the floor with my Qualcomm 7600. To prove my point, here's an Wired post about how disappointing Nexus One sales really are. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/01/nexus-one-sales/ This is THE MOST, if not second to the HD2, impressive hardware form factor of any cell phone out there right now. Even though Google gave the Nexus One top spot on www.google.com, an honor only shared by that of Google's Chrome browser, the sales for the product sucked! I think Google might need to nerd out on its consumers here and proudly boast that 1GHz processor in comparison to other mobile smart phones out there. EDIT: One last thing that I forgot, I was reading on Engadget earlier today and noticed a post about the HTC Super Sonic (1.5GHz) and 4G. Personally, I'm in love. The topic talks about Sprint unveiling WiMax next week at CTIA. The phone scheduled release is that of this summer. So maybe THIS will be the first WinMo 6.5 device to upgrade to WP7S seeing as 7S comes out later in the year. http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/17/w...print-at-ctia/ The only thing this phone needs is a keyboard and I'm sold. Until then I'll just continue dreaming about running my entire household's internet off my cell phone. <3 |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
I doubt this will work on SERO regardless of whether its subsidized or not (likely not subsidized since the Sprint press release says "Nexus One will not be available in any Sprint retail channels."). Its not like we can buy a Hero off contract and activate it on SERO either...
|
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
and as for the Supersonic, its not a winmo device, its Android with Sense, and potentially Android 3.0 (froyo) according to some sites.

I think what happened is I'm confusing the Super Sonic with the Scorpion. Super Sonic being the HD2 Android clone and the Scorpion being a 1.5GHz Android, both having 3.0 and WiMax. Confused by the similarities. Still not sure where I got WinMo from, but until then I'll just keep dreaming. :) |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Actually SERO may be possible..
here is why: The reason you cannot activate an android phone on SERO is because it does not allow the ESN to activate in Sprint's system. BUT The one who does the activation is not sprint but Google...so there is a possibility that it will slide. Not saying that this is the case, but it gives hope for this possibility rather then 100% defeat. |

I hope you're right though :). Not that I even have SERO, but I don't have an everything plan and want to keep it that way. |

http://www.google.com/phone Even the Activate your phone is on their portal page. Google even provides the tech support... As I said this does not mean much but it gives a glimmer of hope where there were none before. |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
interesting, i see the activate phone link now. there IS hope...

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
No keyboard on the Supersonic or Nexus One... I couldn't give up the awesome keyboard on the TP2. Any phone without a keyboard is a dumbphone in my book.
|
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
android 2.1 eclair, snapdragon, 5mp cam w/ flash, direct youtube upload = gangster
no keyboard = WHYYYYYYYYYY =( |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Not so sure about the nexus one...have to have it in hand to know...but if Supersonic is a reality (coming to Sprint) then its hands down Supersonic for me.
I love the TP2 keyboard...but with the screen real estate of the supersonic, I think I can deal with the complete switch from hardkeys to on screen. Either way...winphone7 turns me off more and more each day with more leaks. I'm more and more ready to make the jump to android. |
Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
I actually receive my Moment today, so I will probably be going TP2>Moment>Nexus One>Supersonic. That is if the Nexus One is released this month or April and the Supersonic in summer and my corporate discount applies to the Nexus One. Hell I might even stay with the Nexus One if I find the HD2 too big later this month

Hopefully Sprint will get something comparable to HD2 this year, not running Android or WP7 so us SERO customers can have some fun too

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Honestly, I dont get why you guys hang on to those SERO plans. They will be obsolete in another year. Is saving a little cash that important?
I guess for the SERO users, there is always the LG Rumor Touch that is coming out. Enjoy. =D> Later |

more tv - radio and sprint turn by turn gps - $10 insurance $7 with taxes about $52 $70 - 450 plan 25% discount $52 $7 insurance $63 total $120 more a year or so to get a upgrade once a year and use any phone. Maybe sprint will give you a credit sometime during that year. That is like a days worth of work so you can have freedom. Granted some people will claim I don't need GPS or insurance and I have a discount and i pay $28 after taxes. That is different and I can see hanging on to that - but for how long. Will you still be using the TP2 in 3 years because everything else that came out won't work. AKA Android, Windows 7, Palm Pre, Instint. Maybe TP2 and android will be awesome and work perfectly and someone creates an awesome windows 7 theme so you can stick with SERO. Soon maybe you can use google gps on android with the tp2 and bring your bill down to $41. It really comes down to the user and you don't know their needs. What may not work for you any more will work for another person for the next 3 years. |

As for selling the N1..google never cared how much they sell..they are experimenting with how much they could drive the consumers without interference from the carrier..It is not about selling as it is gauging google's marketing power. It will all come into play years later... |

1mb yeh definitely lol..sorry I know it was a typo but couldn't resist, according to PDADB: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&i...htc_supersonic It will be 512mb RAM and 1GB ROM which is not bad..Doesn't look like it has AMOLED but possibly just not detailed. So it has 512mb more ROM. But whats gonna market it is obviously the 4G...and anyone who already has a Supersonic wont get a Nexus One my guess...but if you turn it around if you got Nexus One and 4G is in your area or will be in 2010 then its a different story. I do not think they would under-clock it but I am more worried about hardware acceleration...I hope they enable it across the entire device. |

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint
Too funny, I had to thank. But honestly if you lived at the one that's less than 2 miles away from my nearest Walmart you would :)
