Good news. I'll see how the android on TP2 is before I think about switching plans to get the supersonic or nexus one.

Holy sh&t that's great news. I'm not interested in buying an Android phone right away, but more competition = better than.

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint

I wonder if this will be compatable with the Sprint SERO plans because you have to purchase this seperately.

hmmmm, isn't that an assumption? that you have to purchase it separately? Pretty sure it will be subsidized by Sprint and you will be able to buy it that way.

But... and this I'd bet big money on, it will NOT be available on SERO. The reason is simple, and it's the one Sprint has been giving for all the phones that aren't available on SERO... it's too data intensive.

sure, it's lame, I agree. It's not fair as SERO is suppose to have unlimited data plans... we all know that.

But it's Sprints rules, it's their ball, you have to pay to play (with the better phones), sadly.

I am under the impression that all android os phones are ineligible for SERO plans. I'm on a SERO now with my TP2 but I would be interested in an android if eligible.

calmnothing 03-17-2010 05:22 PM

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint

The Nexus One is only available from Google on the T-mobile, ATT, and Verizon. I doubt it would be available from Sprint at a subsidized price.

My reasoning for it possibly working is that it won't be subsidized so that's why it might work on the SERO plan.

If anything my TP2 has heavy data usage. Don't think that will change with going to an Android device lol

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint

It's seems as if the Nexus One is hopefully going to starting picking up users here. AT&T announced they were getting the Nexus One and now that Sprint is getting it means people have more options, as well as a CDMA version.
The problem with the Nexus One is I think most people don't fully understand what they are truly buying unless they are somewhat tech savvy. When someone hears "iPhone" they think of Apps and the software. Android, well other than the key words "Google Phone" I don't think the Nexus One really strikes a cord with people. They may be able to understand that it is faster than most of the other phones out there on the market right now but I'll honestly say that my TP2 and others like the iPhone 3GS's have enough processing power to suffice the common smart phone user.
I'd take a guess and say everyone is just seeing the Nexus One as something that's bigger, better, faster, stronger! You know, the common mentality that newer is better and they aren't recognizing that the Nexus One is a big leap forward in mobile computing technology. That 1GHz snapdragon is a beast of a processor and wipes the floor with my Qualcomm 7600.

To prove my point, here's an Wired post about how disappointing Nexus One sales really are.
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/01/nexus-one-sales/

This is THE MOST, if not second to the HD2, impressive hardware form factor of any cell phone out there right now. Even though Google gave the Nexus One top spot on www.google.com, an honor only shared by that of Google's Chrome browser, the sales for the product sucked!

I think Google might need to nerd out on its consumers here and proudly boast that 1GHz processor in comparison to other mobile smart phones out there.

EDIT: One last thing that I forgot, I was reading on Engadget earlier today and noticed a post about the HTC Super Sonic (1.5GHz) and 4G. Personally, I'm in love. The topic talks about Sprint unveiling WiMax next week at CTIA. The phone scheduled release is that of this summer. So maybe THIS will be the first WinMo 6.5 device to upgrade to WP7S seeing as 7S comes out later in the year.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/17/w...print-at-ctia/

The only thing this phone needs is a keyboard and I'm sold. Until then I'll just continue dreaming about running my entire household's internet off my cell phone. <3

I doubt this will work on SERO regardless of whether its subsidized or not (likely not subsidized since the Sprint press release says "Nexus One will not be available in any Sprint retail channels."). Its not like we can buy a Hero off contract and activate it on SERO either...

and as for the Supersonic, its not a winmo device, its Android with Sense, and potentially Android 3.0 (froyo) according to some sites.

Way to crush my hopes and dreams! Not sure where I got WinMo from, I guess I just wish that it was Windows Mobile so much that I thought it was.

I think what happened is I'm confusing the Super Sonic with the Scorpion. Super Sonic being the HD2 Android clone and the Scorpion being a 1.5GHz Android, both having 3.0 and WiMax. Confused by the similarities.

Still not sure where I got WinMo from, but until then I'll just keep dreaming. :)

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint

Actually SERO may be possible..

here is why:

The reason you cannot activate an android phone on SERO is because it does not allow the ESN to activate in Sprint's system. BUT The one who does the activation is not sprint but Google...so there is a possibility that it will slide.

Not saying that this is the case, but it gives hope for this possibility rather then 100% defeat.

What makes you say you would activate it using Google? Wouldn't you just activate it like any other Sprint phone, via Sprint's website. We don't really have a precedent for this, but I don't see why it would be any different.

I hope you're right though :). Not that I even have SERO, but I don't have an everything plan and want to keep it that way.

If it is like T-mobile they are completely staying out of it.

No keyboard on the Supersonic or Nexus One... I couldn't give up the awesome keyboard on the TP2. Any phone without a keyboard is a dumbphone in my book.

android 2.1 eclair, snapdragon, 5mp cam w/ flash, direct youtube upload = gangster
no keyboard = WHYYYYYYYYYY =(

Re: Google Nexus One is coming to Sprint

Not so sure about the nexus one...have to have it in hand to know...but if Supersonic is a reality (coming to Sprint) then its hands down Supersonic for me.

I love the TP2 keyboard...but with the screen real estate of the supersonic, I think I can deal with the complete switch from hardkeys to on screen.

Either way...winphone7 turns me off more and more each day with more leaks. I'm more and more ready to make the jump to android.

I actually receive my Moment today, so I will probably be going TP2>Moment>Nexus One>Supersonic. That is if the Nexus One is released this month or April and the Supersonic in summer and my corporate discount applies to the Nexus One. Hell I might even stay with the Nexus One if I find the HD2 too big later this month

Yeah, I can't wait till later this month where I can hold an HD2 in my hands (and pocket) and see just how big it is, and how usable the SIP is. I'm sure most of us haven't had the chance to hold one yet. That will make my Supersonic decisions a lot easier. Some release dates wouldn't hurt either...

I'm thinking TP2->n1-> supersonic, maybe stay with N1.
I want it now!

Supersonic and N1 even in worst case scenario will come 3 month apart..and its even possible supersonic will come before N1

I'd buy one for full price if it could be activated on SERO, but just about no chance that it will happen.

Hopefully Sprint will get something comparable to HD2 this year, not running Android or WP7 so us SERO customers can have some fun too

There is always a chance...it is small but if Google handles things from tip to toe it might just work...

Honestly, I dont get why you guys hang on to those SERO plans. They will be obsolete in another year. Is saving a little cash that important?

I guess for the SERO users, there is always the LG Rumor Touch that is coming out. Enjoy. =D>

$30
more tv - radio and sprint turn by turn gps - $10
insurance $7
with taxes about $52

$70 - 450 plan
25% discount
$52
$7 insurance
$63 total

$120 more a year or so to get a upgrade once a year and use any phone. Maybe sprint will give you a credit sometime during that year. That is like a days worth of work so you can have freedom.

Granted some people will claim I don't need GPS or insurance and I have a discount and i pay $28 after taxes. That is different and I can see hanging on to that - but for how long. Will you still be using the TP2 in 3 years because everything else that came out won't work. AKA Android, Windows 7, Palm Pre, Instint.

Maybe TP2 and android will be awesome and work perfectly and someone creates an awesome windows 7 theme so you can stick with SERO. Soon maybe you can use google gps on android with the tp2 and bring your bill down to $41.

It really comes down to the user and you don't know their needs. What may not work for you any more will work for another person for the next 3 years.

Actually from what I heard aside from the cheap rate SERO has an advantage because it was done by a 3rd party...the 3rd party has a contract with sprint so those people who have SERO have the plan to stay..even if sprint wanted to they couldn't move you to their system without your permission. This also applies to fees and etc.

This is what I heard at least. :/

Nexus one sales did horrible but Android sales did amazing. So what does that tell you, people don't NEED a super high end phone to be great. Ppcgeeks will want the nexus one because of course we know about snapdragon processors and so forth, but the average user isn't a ppcgeek, sorry to break the news to you. So if you expect the average person that goes to sprint and demands replacements when their phone breaks or you actually want to see your phone before you buy it, then guess what you won't buy a nexus. Nexus has google support only phones that are having issues will not be delt with by the carrier. All of these things factor in, come on man you can't have that long as rant without thinking about the situation first. Like you said the hd2 you can or will be able to walk into the store and play with it and actually see it before buying. Most people will never see an N1 unless they run into someone with it so expecting them to sell as many iphones is retarded. Look at android as a whole not just the n1, this is not iphone where they have only 1 phone, they have mulitple.

I doubt Nexus One will be that late...my guess is a month or 2 after Verizon. That said if Supersonic is in the market, unless Supersonic has a huge premium price it will kill the N1..because most of the people who get the N1 are those in the know and the Supersonic is obviously superior in all aspects except some people may think it is too big.

As for selling the N1..google never cared how much they sell..they are experimenting with how much they could drive the consumers without interference from the carrier..It is not about selling as it is gauging google's marketing power. It will all come into play years later...

I meant android 3.0 till late fall, if if supersonic comes out late fall then it will have 3.0. Also we will have to wait and see what the final specs are, to see if its 1mb ram or 512. If its 512 then the specs aren't that superior. Slightly better video recording but screen size varies by person. As for sense ui I'm not a fan of that, the standard Google sense is perfect. It will not be 1.5 processor it will be snapdragon and you better hope its not underclocked to 768 like the incredible. Honestly I'm almost 100% positive its not going to be 3.0 and which phone do you think will get the update 1st since the update will come from Google not sprint :) I mean its the Google phone.

ah ok...well most likely Nexus will always get updates first because thats the phone they use to experiment on my guess.

1mb yeh definitely lol..sorry I know it was a typo but couldn't resist, according to PDADB:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&i...htc_supersonic

It will be 512mb RAM and 1GB ROM which is not bad..Doesn't look like it has AMOLED but possibly just not detailed. So it has 512mb more ROM.

But whats gonna market it is obviously the 4G...and anyone who already has a Supersonic wont get a Nexus One my guess...but if you turn it around if you got Nexus One and 4G is in your area or will be in 2010 then its a different story.

I do not think they would under-clock it but I am more worried about hardware acceleration...I hope they enable it across the entire device.

If your trailer is in a city that has wimax, is not made of lead or has signal jammers or filled with aluminum foil

or

you park your trailer next to a walmart parking lot..

This is of course still a rumor..but then again so is the existence of your trailer >.>
