I really think this should be considered for a sticky at the top of the page. This is by far the easiest, most efficient way to do Android on the TP2. I am noticing that the thread is slowly creeping down the page and soon might end up on the second page. That would be a shame in my opinion!

Having a built-in updater like this makes it much easier for us to update our Android.

I totally agree. I do admit I look at the other threads to see when updates are out, then run the updater.

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!

Ok guys, I updated the first post, there are no download buttons yet, but the links for the new downloads are directly below the button for the 2.01 .cab.

The difference is the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) has no Sense UI, but is VERY fast, and minimal. This is built by phh using stinedb's new 2.1 kitchen. After booting and using ATK to close all apps, you have about 120MB free RAM!!

The Klinux 2.1 does come with the Sense UI, its a huge, fat file. Around 160mb I believe. Once you boot and use ATK to close apps, you will have about 60MB free RAM to work with. Not as much, but you gotta remember you got that fancy, pretty UI running. :)

Enjoy guys, the Sense UI .cab is a bit buggy when it comes to data, but wifi works great. I can personally fix my AT&T data connection by following these instructions, but I have had reports this work around does not work for everyone!

I've got a problem. I downloaded the 2.1 with sense cab into my memory card. When i open file explorer and click on the cab from my storage card, it starts up but then says the installation was unsuccessful. Any help?

It is slower, yes, but it shouldn't be unusable.

120MB free RAM without Sense, vs 60MB free RAM with Sense

perhaps try to delete your data.img and start over again? The 2.1 builds are both buggy right now & w/ sense its WAY worse.

Been runnin this for the last 2 or 3 days and it's just amazing how much faster android is over WinMo... The few things that I see that's holding it back is sound, battery, GPS and power management... My two biggest concerns would be sound and proper battery reporting. If it had those two things, I would use it regularly. Not being able to know when it's going to take a crap is just not workable. And no sound... is like the dark age... lol I use my sound notifications for everything, even my alarm clock. Oh and USB interfacing would be nice too, especially for internet sharing, but not really necessary. Camera isn't very important to me... it's not a very good camera anyways to be quite honest...

If they fix the above few things... I think it'd be worthy of cooking into a ROM by itself and toss WinMo all together, this way it could be on the internal memory and you could pull the SD card when necessary.

I just put it on my TP2 and I got it to load fine, but after about 1 minute it just resets and goes back to WinMo. :( very frustrating. What am I doing wrong here? (it resets after a minute or less of running android). I keep trying to sign in to my google account and it won't get there before doing a soft-reset.
