Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
On the glemsom site, there is a difference in the Change Log aka Build Log, and the Comments. Comments are just that, someone tested the kernel and reported their findings, it may or may not have anything to do with our particular phones etc being as the kernel is generic for multiple devices. But the Build Log if you Mouse over it, shows what is actually updated in that particular release. Anytime one of the devs commits a change there is a new kernel. So it might just be something minor, or it may be something very sweet and cool! So that's what he was stating is checking that site to see what was changed in that particular kernel release.

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2
Hey guys I've run into a brickwall earlier this week and can't get past it, below are the issues I'm seeing:
First Issue - After launching Haret.exe the following error is displayed, "Something used micropklt_lcd_ctrl. This function should no longer be used." This error is displayed repeatly until the device crashes. The only build I've been able to successfully launch was the one released on 1/25/09. NOTE: Mazzakre provided me with a workaround which was to use the rootfs file from the 1/25/09 release. Second Issue - After using the workaround (replacing rootfs file) I can not get past the "Learn how to use your XDANDROID" page. Here is what occurs every time (out of 15-20 attempts): 1. Launch Haret.exe, device displays the animated "X" splash screen 2. The "Welcome to XDANDROID" page is displayed, I tap the droid figure (page is displayed in landscape mode) 3. The "Learn how to use your XDANDROID" page is displayed but the device doesn't respond to touchscreen. When I press any physical key I am directed back to the "Welcome to XDANDROID" page. (page is displayed in portrait mode) I've tried multiple SD cards with the same behavior (both first issue and second) everytime. Please note because of the field of work I'm in these are engineer sample device (e.g. pre-release) but I checked the H/W version [0004] that I have and it's what was released to the public so I doubt that would be the issue. The only other thing I can think of is this device is unlocked for GSM (which I have the SIM out when attempting to install Droid OS). Any help or advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. |

Hardware 3d has nothing to do with the rendering of the android home screen, or the transitions or animations. Those will all run the same with hardware 3d enabled, with software 3d, or with broken 3d. The fact that the system is being booted from WinMo (as speculated by someone else) also has no effect on the speed or responsiveness of the GUI. As far as what actually is slowing down the interface, I have heard mention that reading the entire system from SD causes a great deal of overhead. Apparently SD reading and writing is actually fairly processor intensive. Additionally, there might be some issue with the method used for blitting (for writing efficiently to the screen). |
