also as far as getting data on another carrier, (metropcs for me) i see the settings from the vogue forum and i entered them but no changes, is that the RIL issue that wont let it connect to anything else ? or is it because they dont have 3g ? just the slowest internet possible lol

Don't work don't boot? Or don't work in some less dire way? I'm not exactly sure what's changed in his rootfs -- I know it points to a different RIL, but otherwise I'm not sure.

If you're booting from /sdcard/andboot/ instead of /sdcard/ then you need a new initrd.gz as well. Aside from that, I can't think of what else could be causing it to fail.

The system.sqsh thing was just me being optimistic -- it doesn't help. The market thing is another RIL issue.

Data on MetroPCS... if you need a username and password, I'm not hopeful that it'll work at this point, no matter what you do. I don't think it's EVDO vs 1xRTT, it's probably just something with the authentication process that's getting mucked up.
