Re: [1/25/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

Thanks Mr.pippy.
I dont want to sound demanding or ungratfule for the work you have done ( and are continuing to do) but i just wish we could get the battery life to daily usable levels (ie last more than 4 hours) and i would be happy to be using android fully using CDMA data instead of wifi.

Well, it seems you guys are pulling together and getting some sort of data working on this which is awesome. At this point, I really wish I had more knowledge of linux based programming so I could lend a hand. :-\. Anyhow, thank you guys for the effort and time you are putting into this project!

Re: [1/25/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

Great job, guys. I used Android on my old touch, and it was amazing experience. As I am an old SERO user like many of the users here, Android phones are not allowed on my account. But with your work, it does not matter any more.

I am a good java programmer, but a noob in linux programming. Please let me know if I can provide any help.

libhtcgeneric-ril.so is almost certainly the android-htc-ril built by the community. Unless there's something else out there I don't know about, that's probably where you want to spend your time and effort. At this point, the CDMA support is pretty threadbare. (Not that it should need a whole lot). And the CDMA/GSM support is nonexistent.

Edit: Just noticed this as well, from the vogue guys: androidhtc ril
It hasn't been updated lately, and I assume there's nothing in there that didn't get into the gitorious repo, but there might be.
I think you are correct. Someone on xda mentioned the Eris had similar hardware and wondered if we can use the binary ril. I tried but the phone crashes once it boots. I dont think the eris lib will work with a diff kernel version.

Since the Touch Pro 2 uses the Broadcom BCM4325 WiFi chip (unlike the TI chip used by every other HTC phone up until now), our current Android build needs some fixes. This shouldn't be hard though, since the Nexus One and Motorola Devour (among others) use Broadcom WiFi--I actually compiled this driver from the Motorola Devour source code.

Hopefully within a few days we can release a build for everyone to try--there's been some nice improvements since 95civic's last release. makkonen and phh ported a new touchscreen driver that works really well, I brought over some HTC patches that increase the amount of RAM we can use (70 MB more), and it'll be great to see this WiFi working properly.
Interesting. Are these drivers different than the broadcom driver included int he autobuilds? They must be since they are for the bcm4329.

Re: [1/25/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

i wish i knew how to contribute... theres probably something i could do!

i know extremely basic kernel programming, im vaguely familiar with a lot of the kernel code, i know linux well as i support it for a living at an enterprise level, but that is not exactly programming..

just dont think im quite up to the task of programming device drivers ;o
