Just be careful with Internet accessible Sharepoint sites as the external connector component may not be covered by your licensing, and Microsoft is both vague and vigilent with their licensing of that component. You would think that would be covered by the server license, but it isn't. To top it off, they only mention you must obtain the external connector license in the tiny details of their license agreement for SharePoint (Applies to both server and services). Just don't want to see anyone get in trouble.

One of the awesome benefits of SVN is a non contributing member could download the source and modify it, locally on their machine, to play around with. If someone, who has access, commits changes this user can simply run an "svn update" and download all of the changes that were made since the last time they updated. If they happen to solve a known problem they can do an easy diff between the build they started with and theirs and propose specific changes to solve that problem. Then someone, who has access, can commit those changes to the current working build and decide if that person should be allowed access to commit changes themselves.

Your second paragraph is key. Civic could just only accept diff patches and then incorporate them himself, if he was worried about broken builds. Otherwise just have people only commit code that works. Shrug.

Apologies if I'm not quite up to speed here (I haven't read through this whole thread), but I just thought I'd mention, in response to everything on the previous page, that there is a place for code to be shared already. Most of the #htc-linux devs make use of this Gitorious repository for the kernel, and a number of others, mostly on Gitorious.org (and some on linuxtogo.com), for other Android/linux components. It's all based on git, which is similar to subversion (SVN), but... better. More linux-y.

I don't know how much 95-Civic's package diverges from the mainline kernel over there, but there are facilities to make clones of repositories (as in, a RHOD400 clone to hold all the code changes for Sprint TP2s).

I've spent a lot of time on the RAPH800 (Sprint Touch Pro) Android port, but I'm just now taking a look at the TP2 progress (my Raph's been giving me some weird trouble lately, and it might be on its way out).

While I'm at it, a few other links with good information (which may or may not be totally useless to you guys, since I don't know what the state of your kernel is):

Well, examined SVN last night. I must admit, it looks really promising from a technical standpoint. The problem I would have is that it is mentioned that there is no easy to use administration tools. That, and the fact that it would require me learning a new OS (of sorts). I will definitely keep some notes I have made about SVN around for future use, but as a fulltime college student and working fulltime (with on call) I just don't have the time to dedicate into another project.

On a different note, if my taxes come back with the amount I am counting on, I will have just enough money to purchase a server with enough resources to use Hyper-V. Yes, yes, I know all the arguements for VMware and VirtualBox. I use them both already and need the experience with Hyper-V. This would allow me to create many different machines to test with and you all could benefit.

Anyway, getting back to the thread, If there is anything else I can do to help this project out, please let me know. I want it to succeed as bad as anyone else.

Makkonen I always visit your thread for the touch pro, my tp actually broke before you got data working nd I made a joke over there probably a week ago saying you should ditch your tp so you could assist 95civic with the tp2... but anyways we would love to have you aboard.

I've offered up hosting to 95-civic in a PM, but haven't heard back. It's a shared hosting account, but its a great place to host compiled builds instead of an upload site with restrictions. I've got probably 500gigs available with unlimited bandwidth.

Hopefully with all these offers extended by members it will help with the continued development of this port.

We probably shouldn't worry too much about hosting for collaboration / code on this, folks - there are a lot of git repositories and wikis that would be happy to welcome civic, and are already involved in different htc android adaptations.

Hacking up some one-off svn, or god forbid sharepoint, site for this is a getting waaaaay off track.

hey guys, reporting back. i used a working at&t sim and i was able to get it to register on the network, i succesfully sent a text msg and made a call but i couldn't hear anything. still couldn't get it to connect to metropcs though hope it will be solved. still cant wait for the next update. again if i can help let me know
