true..though the CDMA Touch Pro 2 uses the same Qualcomm MSM 7600 processor as the Droid Eris.
which should lead to easier porting of drivers for video, gps, camera among other things..theoretically :)

Are you guys sure GPS isnt working? I have a Sprint TP2, and when I booted into android and ran the browser, it grabbed my location correctly. Or is it grabbing it from my ISP? :P

If you got your Android in a Android folder on you Storage Card you need to go into the registry and change it. Here are the changes that you could make.
"AndroidBootFolder" would be the one you need to change if you have Android in a Android folder on you SD card.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]
Here's quick list describing what the keys are for
  • "AutoBootEnabled"=dword:1 (1: enable autoboot | 0: disable autoboot)
  • "FastBootEnabled"=dword:0 (1: enable fastboot | 0: disable fastboot)
  • "AutoBootAndroid"=dword:1 (1: boot Android | 0: boot Windows)
  • "StorageBootMode"=dword:0 (1: boot from Storage Card (SDMemory) | 0: boot from Internal Storage (moviNAND))
  • "AndroidBootFolder"=dword:0 (1: boot from \Android\ folder on storage (e.g. \Storage Card\Android\haret.exe)| 0: boot from root of storage)

Correct GPS isnt working... When I went into google maps in Android my location was a little off; very close but still a little off... With GPS atleast within windows google maps is on point.

But the processor has nothing to do really with the radio drivers.

Re: [2/27/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

That's not entirely true, as the MSM7600 is a system-on-a-chip that includes the gsm+cdma radio as well as the processor(s?) and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm not sure that that means the droid eris source will actually be much help when it comes. We won't see the RIL, I gather, just the kernel; and I believe we already have kernel support for the voice and data channels of the radio (though this has not been definitively confirmed, as far as I know).

As MrPippy said before:

That's not GPS, its Android/Google's scary good WiFi geolocation at work. Google has a giant database of WiFi networks and their locations (amassed from those Street View cars), so once the phone has an Internet connection and can scan for WiFi networks, it can probably pick up a general location.

I get this message too guys, but then when I just start using the Phone to dial out the phone works fine. ???

Solved by removing the stock SIM card behind the battery.

There are directions under the battery on how to remove the card with your stylus. Once I removed it and booted, Android said "registered to the network". Dunno what changed though, since I was able to make voice calls before even with the error message...

The google map probably fine your location with my location. You can have your gps off and it will use the cellular towers to find your location.
