Darn, spoke too soon. Just got the solid green SOD... my Wifi was on but 3G was off. Btw, I'm running 3/1 Wistilt2's kernel... no log :(

I used to not get SODs with the earlier Wistilt's kernels (2/24, 2/28 ); maybe an occasional restart to WinMo but that's about it. I'm going to try the official 1276 and see if it makes a difference.

Solid green? Wifi could've disabled itself.

Try disabling data (like uncheck the box) and see if you get SoD's. This issue is kernel agnostic.

True, whenever my TP2 goes to sleep, wifi is disabled (I can tell because when I wake it up, I see the wifi icon on the task bar reappearing and obtaining IP address). I do notice that when wifi is disabled 3G data automatically turns on if data comm is needed. I guess the one way to test this issue, like you say, is to disable 3G data... tough to live without 3G data for a long extended period. :( The thing is that I don't get SOD frequently; maybe once every 8 hours.

I bit the bullet a little while ago and shut down data completely and only using wifi. It is rough but I can live with it for now (I'll be working at home for a few days so I've got wifi ) Can't wait for Wistilts radio guy to give us something to test, and hopefully he adds the ability to grab logs again although if all goes well there won't be any to give!!

I'm out and about too much so I need my 3G data :( The SOD doesn't happen often on mine, maybe twice in a 24 hour period. At first I thought it was due to me OCing to 700mhz but it also happened at lower speeds. I'm gonna just stick with this for now; I'll wait for arrrghhh and wistilt2 to come out with some possible RIL fix. Once in a while is not too bad, I haven't gone back to WinMo for quite some time. Darn, my friend didn't bring me his cracked-screen phone last time I meet him; I'll love to try out what natemcnutty and ACL got cooking in the NAND thread.

Edit: just up'ed this sucker to 748mhz :thumbleft: I just bought another OEM battery for $7 on amazon as a spare so when I run out I'll just switch. I'm also trying to hack the build.prop under /system to see if I can get better 3G data speed by changing the values to ro.ril.hsxpa andro.ril.gprsclass; seems to work but I need to verify using a before and after test scenario; I'll let you guys know.

I played with all sorts of these settings, saw no dramatic change in speed tests. They were all over the place, but I took a ton and they were literally all over the board. Always took 10+ tests with each setting change.

You're right; I can't really tell for sure; I thought it was better but then I went back to the default values and got the same results. I wonder if tiad8 did these tweaks when he advertised "faster data" in his builds.

Here you go :)

Just download the attached apk, install it, launch it and do the following to add paid apps to the Market:
  1. Go to Set custom tab
  2. Enter 310120 (for Sprint) as gsm.sim.operator.numeric; for Verizon, use 310012
  3. Click on Set to this values
  4. On main window, click on Save current settings

That's it, next time you run Market, paid apps will show up. I haven't tried to download a paid one yet but they do show up.

Enjoy. :)

Just an update; I confirmed this works. The only thing is that the MarketEnabler is "donateware" and won't auto run (set fakeOnBoot) when you boot in Android the next time, you have to manually launch it and enter the value again. If you got $3 to spare, you can pay the author and it will always auto run on boot.

Anyways, I bought a couple apps (Advanced Task Manager $.99) and (SetCPU for Root Users $1.99) and I just use Google Checkout to pay for the apps.

Had no issues at all for the entire day since I shut down data and used WIFI since yesterday afternoon. Today I switched on data to run around and do some errands and had a SOD upon getting home and going downstairs where my signal fluctuates between little and none. No airave still, haven't had it on in a bit to test this. And every time I have a SOD, when I try to reboot, it wipes my startup.txt to 0B. I've learned though and keep a copy of it stored away...

That's an interesting side effect... perhaps it wasn't always the startup utility blasting those out, heh.

WisTilt2 is running into some issues with the RIL, mostly because he doesn't have a CDMA device and I can't seem to pass commands directly to the modem for more than 30s before it locks up...
