Re: [TESTING] Updated 2/28/11 New Kernel - GFX Glitches/lag fix

Oops, posted the wrong one. If you downloaded the kernel, please redownload!

Ugh, even with the libs disabled, I still have issues with the phone sleeping. Lots of wakelocks! I'll let WisTilt2 know... You guys might want to hold off on this kernel.

Ok, so this is interesting. The libs are obviously suspect, and when I have the libs disabled and try to use cam, the phone refuses to sleep. So if you use this kernel with the libs disabled and don't touch the cam, you'll be fine... but that was kinda the point of this kernel. I guess the first one can't go perfectly, eh? :p

is there anyway to possibly get this working with the camera kernal?

Jesus christ people. Updated to to the 2/28 kernel last night, no graphical glitches. Seems slightly smoother when scrolling through things. No sods yet, battery life seems to be the same.

Re: [TESTING] Updated 3/1/11 New Kernel - Up-to-date w/Autobuild!

arrrghhh, awesome news on the camera/video as part of the mainline kernel now. :thumbleft:
Very impress with your patience these days. ;)

Anyways, I have one minor question. The kernel may have support for camera but doesn't the system.ext2 (from FRX04) need to contain the latest camera-related libraries also? I'm guessing one of the dev guys (viruscrazy) needs to commit those libraries and StineBD needs to rebuild the system.ext2 image.

Nope, gotta wait for the camera stuff to be committed, which appears to be happening lately.

Edit: Changed my earlier rant... didn't have my coffee early and getting tired of seeing the same ol' questions...

You should have left your rant in tact. ;) People need to learn to read!

Over here using this new wistilt2 kernel, with the latest FROYO X RED (complete bundle + new system.ext2), and the latest rootfs.img from XDANDROID autobuild...

Camera works perfect, video recording crashes though...

I don't think Tiad8's Froyo X Red supports video yet. If you read his latest post, he has it working but haven't uploaded any update yet.

Thanks ndno, that's good to know... I'll keep an eye on his threads.

I thought better of it and didn't want to be a complete a hole, but people do need to learn how to read... anyone who subscribes to the thread would have gotten the original message, and I can always repost it if people continue to ask stupid things in Arrrghhh's thread about a "TESTING KERNEL" lmao.

As far as the kernel, I reset up FRX04, was running great, tossed in the 022811 kernel (with graphic fixes), that was running great too, so I tempted fate and hooked up my airave, and just got a SOD. Gonna let it reboot and see how it works. No significant issues with wake ups, some a little slow but much better than previously. Haven't tried the newest kernel w/ camera/video, wasn't sure how it was gonna work without the libs being mounted or an updated system.ext2 and haven't had a chance to read into it yet.

And one final comment about Arrrghhh's patience... I jumped on IRC today lurking and saw that Arrrghhh truly does have the patience of a saint, lmao. Even though they were stupid questions and I believe Arrrghhh was getting frustrated, he bailed out a noob who didn't bother reading. My hat is off to him (and you too ndno!!!).

Yes it work. download ( Froyo x red improved 3d performance) video and camcorder works like it charm. I could record up 30 minute plus. You just need kernel 1203 from virus. You don't need his libs. Just the kernels.

Thanks

Tiad8, thanks for the details; unfortunately, I don't think most users know to go to xda to download viruscrazy's stuff and configure and set it up, let alone read your instructions. Most of them need to be spoonfed. Your first post on most of your builds doesn't mention viruscrazy's stuff or a link to his stuff so users just attempt to use your included kernel in files/camera directory, which is the "old" 1214 build you have always used. With this thread, there are no instructions to "configure" for camera/video and rightfully there shouldn't be because this is about testing wistilt2's kernel, not anything else. So unless people can "connect" all the dots with all the different development threads going on, they are not going to figure out how to put bits and pieces together to get video working unless you have a all-in-one bundle for them. You can update your post to include viruscrazy's link if ppl want to try video.

Sorry arrrghhh for being off topic; today's kernel is working great. I will try it out with viruscrazy's latest camera libraries tonight.
